The starting 11 looked great on paper but on paper has never won football games or produced good performances. Foden and Palmer shouldn't be in the same team. Starting Bellingham as a false 9 instead of just starting Watkins who has been one of the best strikers in Europe for the last few years was a daft decision at best. Rice was crap in the Euros and often looked exposed, yet Carsley played him on his own in front of the defence anyway. Lewis and Trent are League One calibre defenders. You would still hope that we would have too much for a pretty ordinary, albeit extremely motivated, Greece team regardless. But it could and should have been 3-6.
