Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Hes not in any serious danger until the crowd turns. That seems to be a fair bit off.

That said City, Villa and Galatasaray is probably the hardest run of consecutive games we've had this season and the fans can turn quickly.

Who the fuck knows where we'll be when Ipswich come calling, either on top of the world or out for blood.

I've always agreed that no manager is ever as safe as you think they are.. People didn't expect Nuno to just be only the one game away from the sack before the Man Utd game. But, the reality of being on the end of defeats is worse than the prospect of it.

However, Nuno didn't have the cult of personality support that this manager seems to have. Fans didn't take to Nuno from the off, whereas the current manager has all previous poor performances washed away after a few wins ever if they are against lesser opposition is cup competitions.

The worst thing that was allowed to happen was this adoption of phrases like Ange-Ball. Are we the only fanbase that mythologises managers to this level before they do bugger all for us? A lot of other clubs actually wait for the manager to be successful or at least show promise of success before the hero-worship.
My feeling about the cult is it's powered by magical thinking.

After the boring dross of Nuno, Mou and Conte we got a manager who promised attacking football and the Spurs way and people really wanted to believe. The online discourse around Ange has been a bit of an eye opener.

We weren't that wide open today for me, it was a total mess. When we attacked them we were lacking players in attacking positions, our midfield seemed unexistent when we were fighting for the ball (something that happens a lot when Bissouma is playing) and when we got the ball in the defense we also didn't have the players to pass there, it was like some of our players were hiding from the ball today, always on the wrong positions.
I thought the defending today was a joke, nobody in the team was comfortable, and made a poor team look good.

It was being billed as "el sackio". He went into that game in big trouble with the team being booed off the pitch in previous games.

It hasn't happened yet. But like I say out upcoming run of games is nasty, and it might make or break him.

Most of us like to see attacking, exciting football, but that has to be balanced with a degree of pragmatism.
It's all very well saying, it's a bad day at the office, but we should of lost by 3 or 4 today.
Against a team without a win this season is fucking inexcusable imo, the club has no bollocks at all for anything.
I'm sick of this club being an abject failure on the pitch on a all too familiar basis.
I think Ange's vision is a pipe dream, you just can't think you can out play the opposition every week in this league.
I'm sure when he goes that, if he goes back to Oz or manages in the Albanian league that it might work there.
Being so wide open against teams palace is a joke, Brighton as well a nonsense and so was Coventry in the cup.
Big week for him ahead, I can't see him getting anything from the next two games.
i want to see a professional job done in all games. it is professional football afterall. we watched madrid counter city last year to get the job done in the CL as they knew that was the only chance they had. this guys just clueless, its boring now.

his appointment is as embarrassing as ndombele's. no one from the club has really looked into and studied them. big money flying about and theres serious incompetence from the people chucking it. they surely havent hired him knowing hes this tactically inept?

I think you’re being generous, the crowd are turning right now. There is a noticeable shift in attitude towards him. I like Ange but results are what counts and he’s not getting enough of them.

And don’t give me any fucking bollocks about 5 wins in 9 or whatever the fuck it is, if we play anybody decent, we lose. Away from home we look weak as piss. Today was abysmal, and it needs calling out and addressing by him as the manager.

If we lose to Villa at home after losing against Brighton and Palace and beating West Ham, the crowd will 100% boo and if they don't they deserve all the dross Ange is serving up.

That will be 3 defeats in 4 in the league, 5 defeats in 10 and you seriously start to question how low we may finish this season.

I feel like A lot of the El Sackico stuff was done in hindsight, after we got Conte from under their nose. All I remember is in the week before the game, a lot of the Spurs people on twitter. Definitely Paul O'Keefe, maybe Ali Gold. Were adamant that he wasn't getting the sack if he lost to Utd.

Either way, I would certainly agree that there was a growing vociferous-ness before the end of Nuno, that we haven't reached yet.

I think we all knew that Palace would make it a battle.

Pick a side that can handle it , or at least make it more difficult for them to win the battle , that's on the manager .
It’s perhaps my imagination but I get the feeling that teams irrespective of how shite they are playing prior to playing us….(last week, exception) they seem to raise their game for us Fulham, Stoke, West Brom , Leicester teams that we really should be taking care of over the seasons like today you just knew deep down it was going to go tits up…..but you can’t blame Ange completely it’s happened to previous squads & managers I’m afraid it’s a Tottenham Hotspur thing :dude: better just suck it up

I get what you're saying, I personally would have taken a 1-0 win today, that is the kind of professional performance you need, not trying to outscore everyone every game utter madness.

100%. Taking a look at other sites online and there are far more people that are voicing concerns than there have been previously. More and more people are saying get him out and a few people you can tell are still hesitant to say it out loud but if you read between the lines with what they are saying, a sizeable and growing portion of the fan base are having serious doubts about Ange.

we blew the brighton game by him not understanding the importance of shutting games out in this league. 2-0 at HT we let them come at us and counter, but this cunt thinks hes billy big bollox because hes won a couple dog shit leagues.

this squad is far better than what its showed since hes been here. its not enjoyable to watch either, maybe for neutrals because the standard is so shit anything can happen. its a painful watch, we are always vulnerable, we made a shit palace side look ok today.

to be fair, he might know that he needs to shut games out, he might just not know how to actually do it. either way, hes out of his depth and im starting to feel sorry for him even though i think the blokes a cunt.

You throw Ange out then what?

I have yet to see a credible plan. If Flick was available or Klopp or someone then yes, but so far it’s been give it to Ryan Mason and such. You change manager when you have an actual plan or if you are in a relegation fight. We already look clownish enough sacking a manager right before a cup final.

If Ange fails and end of season there are better manager available then consider it. Let’s not throw the club into chaos. We are already Comedy Central.
I agree he can’t leave now but assuming he can’t change this frustratingly inconsistent script, at the end of the season I’d be looking at Iraola (if Bournemouth continue to punch above their weight) .

Ange had gained some (deserved) grace and favour in the last few weeks. I loved watching him starting to crow again in the pressers - god we all want to see it!!
But today was truly pitiful. The performance was far worse than the result. And if that’s the way we try and right the wrong of that 2nd half vs Brighton, then you can’t help but wonder as to where the fuck is he actually taking us.

Personally, I’ve thought for a while his being so overweight is not a great sign in this day and age at this level, in this sport. Apart from Benitez, ALL the good managers of recent decades have kept themselves in decent shape.
If he seemingly can’t discipline himself with his own health and well-being, there’s a chance his discipline and motivation of others might be slightly lacking compared to the best (it’s such fine margins at this level of sport).
I’m not big on this theory/concern obviously - listening to some of his twaddle after a loss is far more concerning!

But after that Chelsea game
New Girl Ugh GIF

The atmosphere in the ground is nowhere near what it was towards the end of Nuno. They're still singing his frigging song.

Like I've said, the next three games are where I can see it turning as I'm not sure we win any of them, and then we'll see the crowd turn.
