Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm sorry but this club has always been partial to a Spursy. There is a reason we got this label. Conte called the players out for their lack of professionalism and their lack of will to win. He questioned their attitude. Nothing has changed mate.

You are being selective what you are looking at.

Anyway we will have to agree to disagree. Getting nowhere.

I don't dispute this.
But we shouldn't just accept it. If it means changing managers every 2 years until one clicks, fuck it. Do it.
I don't want us to just be happy with mid table, no consistent form, nothing to look forward to just to say we backed someone.

The frustrating thing is we could easily have won all 5 league games that we lost. All defeats were by a single goal where we missed chances and gave up silly goals. All our wins have been emphatic where we have just blown teams away with some of the most exciting football you will see!

Its very hard to call. We are totally unpredictable but the underlying potential is there and when we click, we look as good if not better than any Spurs team I've ever seen in my lifetime. For now we have to stick with it and make a judgement at the end of the season. We can beat anyone on a going day so this could be our best chance of winning a cup in years!

What baffles me most is how this team can be inconsisitent from game to game, regardless of the quality of the opposition,

During the Brighton game they were inconsistent within the game. Jekyll first half and Hyde in the 2nd half.

I attended the Coventry away game in the cup and that was the same performance, for 87 minutes, as yesterday and the Palace away game. We seem to particularly struggle against the gravy, low block, aggression teams and that is my main reason for thinking Ange may deserve a little more time to figure it out.

I am now convinced that Vicario, Romero and Porro in particular are at the route of what goes wrong when we stink.
They are coasting. Nobody above them is demanding that they reach any kind of targets. They may have a financial incentive for getting top 4 but they are all already very wealthy young men.
If you are at a Liverpool and you put in a performance like yesterday you would be absolutley destroyed by the fanbase, media, the chairman would probably have a word.

Basically the mentality at our club ensures this kind of shit will continue.

The whole coaching set up sums up the club really. Hastily cobbled together on the cheap. I'd be very suspicious next time of any manager that is happy to come on his own without a set coaching team. All feels very amateurish.
Yep.

Young, cheap & inexperienced
SR & NM was sacked from Hibernian
wtf do we have so many SPL people here

Sacking managers rarely leads to success though. It only worked for the likes of Chelsea because they could splurge a couple of hundred million on whatever players the new manager wanted. And virtually guarantee that they got the players the manager wanted due to the huge wages they offer.

Our best chance under Levy is a long term project slowly incorporating the youth. I don't like that any more than you do, but that's the best route. We start another project we are back to square 1.

I would say we are patchy rather than coasting.

In the games we win we are often brilliant for 20 minutes.

In the games we lose we seem to still stay in the game even when we are terrible.

I attended the game last Sunday, at home to Villa, and we ripped them a new one inside 15 minutes. We dismantled Villa far more effectively than Liverpool attempted to on Saturday evening.

Ange has something but the journey is fucking enfuriating.

Its the most frustrating season I can remember. But, the reason its so frustrating is because we know how good we can be and we really should be at least 3rd in the league right now. Just feels like a massive opportunity missed.

I do believe we are going in the right direction but my god the journey is bumpy. Very hard to stay calm and keep the emotions in check.

Ange himself subtly questioned the motivation yesterday with his comment about how to instill consistency into the group. He doesn't seem to be the kind to rip his players publicly but reading between the lines my take on it was that it we didn't turn up yesterday until it was far too late.

I do agree with you on everything else though. There are little tantalizing flashes of something special. Without consistency though its all fairly pointless.

As long as the stadium is selling out and the fans aren't directing their ire at Levy/ENIC, then Ange will keep his job. As soon as it starts to shift beyond the manager, Levy will sack him for his umpteenth attempt at trying to look like he gives a shit about the footballing side of the club and not just using the area to build a theme park.

THe only thing unique - is that sheer chaotic Football end-to-end stuff
which got us mesmerised.

uniquely disasterous at times - we do not know what to expect
But it is unique.

I have been watching Spurs since the 77 / 78 promotion season and I have never seen anything like this.

Something unusual / out of the ordinary is occurring. I've seen a lot but I have never seen this. I don't recognise any particular pattern or similarity with the past.

Ange could be an imposter but; he could also be a pioneer like Arthur Rowe and Billy Nic.

I think we may have to give him more time just in case.

The first three are jobs for the boys basically. Mason and Wells are club appointments. Jedinak basically has the job because he is Australian, there is no other reason he is here. It definitely isnt on merit. The new lads from Hibs got laughed out of town in their last job.

I just want to give this as an example of how cheap the club are towards hiring coaches. When we appointed Nuno he was allowed to bring a three staff members with him, but the club would let him bring in his long term assistant Rui Silva. Some journalists questioned this at the time and it was said it was just down to how many staff we would allow him to bring in. I'm not saying Nuno would have done better but it might have been good to give him a bit more a chance by bringing in his long term mate and number two.

Losing all 3 games before an international break is a worrying trend. Especially the manner of the last 2 defeats. Its almost like the players have switched off from duty. Almost like a Friday afternoon in the office where everything becomes Monday's problem. Atleast there isn't another international break until March

Look at the schedule. The discussion about going 3rd place is completely unnecessary.

City will spank us after the break, because of their negative streak and the away record under Ange.
Still have both games against Liverpool and Chelsea, which is a clusterfuck everytime we face them. And top of that the away games against Woolwich and West Ham. You could add Nottingham to that list, they will be organized and Nuno is certainly looking to get a win against us.

Leaguewise we are going to be aiming for 8th or 9th.

Fuck me lets just hope that this squad pulls themselves together for the cup matches, to atleast have something to look forward to.

Fans settling for a pub league manager is as much of a crime as a chairman who lumps him with 2nd or 3rd choice signings.
Those of us saying we have to supporting this drivel as as big of a problem as it gives the chairman carte blanche to do nothing.

Depends on your definition of success.
We probably won't ever win the league. We should be aiming for the "best of the rest" though really. Anywhere from 3rd to 6th is where we belong. Not 10th and dropping.
We sacked Redknapp for finishing 4th. We sacked AVB when we were 7th after MW 16. At MW 11, he'd only lost 3.
Levy has (at least until now) not settled for coaches that aren't knocking on the door of the top 4.
Seriously, don't let the condensed points in the league fool you, our current tally is entirely padded out by the oppo we have played. It will get a lot worse in the next 6.

Please everybody watch this again and refresh your memories.

Pay particular attention to 1:20

I still love this interview. Every last word.

Levy shouldn't have sacked him.
He should have sat him down and begged him to fix everything he said was "unna-set-able"

You wot mate?
We beat Liverpool last season.

When they had 9 men,

And a good goal ruled out by VAR

And they scored the winner for us

deep in injury time
