Great point well made.

5 defeats already this season. After 11 games…. We are on course to finish 10-12th with a point tally of around 50. That ain’t gonna keep him in a job and is frankly shocking.

Last 8 of the league cup means nothing. Well just as likely lose to a new manager bounce than get to the final, never mind win it.

I am all for positivity but fuck me, some posts on here are cloud cuckoo land level stuff
Its not cuckoo land is it, its an opinion that prefers to see some of the positives but has noted some of the negatives!

After Points the next telling fact is GD and ours is very good for the life of me I cannot work us out this season.
Our defenders seem to have brain farts in every game and often we can overcome them by outscoring the opponent and then along come Palace and Ipswich.

GD is an outlier atm because we haven't played any teams we will predictably fall to heavy defeats to; haven't played any of Chelsea, Liverpool or City at all in the league and still have away trips to Villa and Woolwich. With how poor Ange's record is in these fixtures it's not even unreasonable to say we could lose every single one of those games.

An there lies the 2 mindsets. One looks up, the other looks down. I understand both, but chose to look up.
I guess that's healthy. I used to be optimistic every season, but decades of disappointment has just been too much. Constantly telling myself "ooh if we just beat x ,y and z we'll be in.
touching distance of the top of the league" and it never ever actually happening.

I've adjusted my expectations, or at least am trying to. Enjoy the wins and fun games as they come, don't expect anything in terms of league position or cup wins.

We have 2 wins against top half teams since March. Both v Aston Villa, 4 goal batterings.
5 of the current top 7 to play before the halfway stage. Top 3 plus the likes of Fulham and Bournemouth who will give us big problems.
Man United away is now a win against a top half team. Some statistics, mid season, mean very little. 38 games.

Spurs under Ange are beating some half decent sides convincingly and losing / playing badly to gravy, low block teams.

Something is going wrong for reasons which are not always obvious. Individual error and generally poor defending, particularly from set plays and crosses, are a regular feature.

It seems solvable yet it continues.
