Some of what we're seeing is that the league is stronger in the middle group of teams than it has been in the past. It used to be possible to walk over a good part of the league and then hope to split your games against the top 6 teams, ending up with a good season. It's more a battle week to week now. A lot of how teams finish will come down to depth and right now Spurs don't have enough to cope with injuries and weekday competitions.

Having a shit manager doesn't help

More very worrying selections and subs today. Losing Solanke, surely he should have realised he needed to retain Kulusevski in the front line remit he had last week, or at least as the False 9, so we had someone who could hold up and interact with the midfield. We had absolutely zero stickability or hold up play in that front three. To watch that first half and do nothing at HT was pretty troubling. Then to take off Maddison just as they go down to ten men was not smart thinking.

That performance today was possibly the worst of the season. Fucking awful. We just looked fucking insipid.
Palace and Galatasaray were worse but not having a physical player up top was just poor management.

Yes and when Redknapp needed reinforcements in January he got two free transfers a 36 year old from New Zealand and a striker made of glass . We had managed to sign two of the greatest players of the last twenty years in Bale and Modric , did we take advantage of that , see above ref January . Poch took us to to a CL final and we didn’t sign anyone for two windows .

So we have a structure that actually sabotages opportunities, it ain’t changing . We are constantly trying to regain ground we give up , we NEVER push on at a time of strength

Palace was bad. This was probably up there with that but with the caveat that Fulham are a bit better.
Fulham are in a very good space at the moment. Even the Wolves tonking was more about Cunha - Fulham actually played pretty well in that game. With all our injuries it was an insipid performance but there are reasons.

Palace we were just smashed by a far worse team who just wanted it more. Easily our worst performance imo

The Kulu decision was made on Thursday when he played the 90 trying to guarantee progression to the next stage - and thus alllow us to play weakened teams for the rest of the group stage and alleviate our injury crisis.

The sports science people will know how red zoned Kulu is. He was always gong to be rested today. Solanke missing just made his choices even more limited.

I wish he'd trust Lankshear more becuase like you say that front three just can't hold the ball up which causes huge problems elsewhere

Everything I have literally said is based on the evidence that has presented itself.

I disagree, I think it's quite consistent, we have been dropping points to these teams for the best part of a year now.

And in that time we have averaged 1.4ppg..... that gets you 9th or 10th.

He and the team need to do better or he's done.

What evidence are you looking at???

I don't even know what you're trying to argue tbh :D

That is exactly it.

It feels like watching kids trying to build sandcastles out of very fine dry sand.
The old saying “ Don’t shoot the messenger” seems a perfect fit , for messenger read manager. Fall guy . after scapegoat, after sacrificial lamb , after patsy , after fall guy . Most of the team we have , poss none of the team we have get in the Poch team , a couple might get in Redknapps . Yet people are expecting Ange to challenge . We are shrinking the wage bill FFS , what decent manager will come to work with the ENIC method . The two big names we have had , Conte and Jose have publicly and repeatedly slagged off the way the club is run .

Get real we are not getting anyone who can make this team competitive, so I will stick with inconsistent attacking football , because I have had my fill of inconsistent negative football

It’s been 25 years of not working .

I don’t know why people think there is some miracle worker who we might find , it cannot be done . All that happens is we pay compensation to Ange , possibly compensation for the incoming manager , or we get Alan fucking Pardew cos he’s unemployed .

Nobody but nobody can succeed under ENIC. I’m bored with blaming manager after manager after manager after manager after manager etc etc .
I don't understand what's difficult to understand about my post. I'm not saying ENIC/Levy aren't at fault - but they're not going anywhere.

If we're going to win something, it's going to be a lucky fluke and/or a miracle worker. Ange has shown he's not that. That manager might not exist, but there's no point sticking with one who clearly isn't just because he's a nice bloke who calls everyone mate.

I'm bored with incessantly whinging about ENIC and Levy being cheap and uninterested in trophies. It's complaining about the rain being wet - no matter how much you do it, they'll still own the club tomorrow, next year, and in 2030.

I know they are going nowhere , history is on my side that changing managers changes nothing . They have done it about 15-16 times and still we fail . So I can’t be bothered with another half arsed rebuild , because that is always what we get

Results exactly the same as last year, but we have scored more and conceded less.

2024-5
2023-4
W-D-L
F-A
W-D-L
F-A
11-3-6
42-22

40-29

Not bad result today considering 50% of our first team unavailable.

I hate this bollocks so much. Jol did, Redknapp did, Poch did it's not all about trophies, all these guys made us a top 2/3 team in the league.

I agree with you about the futile Levy whining fwiw.

I just don't agree that there's an attainable option out there that is a clear upgrade on Ange who, as far as I can see, does pretty well when he has a settled first 11 to deploy.

I also don't think our first 11 is any better than 4-6th and Ange showed every chance of achieving that when he's not got half the fucking side out. That's why I take the piss out of people who simultaneously acknowledge our squad isn't very strong yet blame the manager for not achieving top 3 levels.

I'm open to the idea that Ange isn't capable EVEN WITH a capable squad but who?

Maybe Iraola?

We were properly crap today though. To have less shots than Fulham, less possession, half as much xG is really crap. I thought for all the Forster talk he stood pretty strong.

They were decisively and clearly the better, stronger outfit throughout the match. Really crap stuff.

But yeah, Fulham are a good team. Some handy players. But fuck me we were dismal. I don’t get this side. I know we have injuries but our intensity and willingness to get involved in physical battles sometimes is so fucking poor.

I question the logic of that course of decision making. I also question the logic of playing Solanke in midweek (though Lankshire's suspension didn't help), Porro for both games - not bringing Spence on today...

I'm really struggling with some of the selection/subs/game management decisions in general.
