For me I can just see the progress. Maybe my expectations going into this Ange era was alot lower than other fans who seem in utter disbeleif that we are not currently 2nd in the league. Because we are only 5 points off second even though they can all name the same 4 awful results

If we won all the games we lost we’d be title winners.

Cheers Geoff

What progress????

Explain it. Anyone can say that, but actually explain how we're progressing in any way shape or form?

We are getting further and further away from mounting a challenge on the top 4.
We started last season in it, and have been drifting away from it ever since.

Not a bad shout.

His football style should also suit our forward line if it came down to it.

And he actually has a wee bit of PL experience. He spent some time away from Dortmund as the assistant for slaven Bilic at West Ham.
He upset some of his own players though with his negative tactics. Hummels and apparently Rues were vocal about it, pretty sure hummels and terzic had a punch up because of it.

No of course not, but Levy isn't going anywhere so all we can hope for is that he appoints a top manager / coach. Ange isn't it though.
I will be very surprised after the absolute clusterfuck that has been the post Poch era if any top coach wants to come

Jose sacked before a final
Nuno sacked after 10 games
Conte sacked after effectively forcing Levy’s hand by publicly castigating him
Ange sacked within 1 season and 13 prem games (in theory right now) after being given mainly kids as signings in the summer , whilst also having seemingly a wage squeeze imposed

Very attractive job if you like to have your reputation shredded, otherwise not so much

Ultimately we are going in circles on this forum. Because Tottenham did not win, its their turn to laugh at me. I get that and I'm not going to stop that.

The context is simple for me. Yesterday was a poor performance. We drew with Fulham but were missing Vicario, VDV, Romero, Bentancur, Solanke, Rich, Odobert and Moore. This is not the straw that broke the camels back
We got beat by Brighton with Romero VDV Bentancur Solanke and Vicario. This context you are clinging to is fake. In fact I have at this time more faith in Dragusin and Davis than the other two centerbacks, they were our best players yesterday. You're not stupid but you are being way too generous in your assessment of what is happening. Which I have sympathy for because I like Ange. But a rational assessment is not flattering on his decision making.

That might be the case , but the idea a new manager will turn our fortunes around is as we agree going to be down to luck. The team has about 2 players who could push for a place in a top 4 team . What is clear is the new manager will be expected to do it in an environment of a salary squeeze because that is obviously what is happening. So not enough players of quality , many needing to be replaced who we can’t shift, if by some miracle we do shift them we will try to replace them on cheaper salaries . That is our future imho

Turning water into wine is child’s play by comparison

So let me get this straight.

You say that it would be easier to turn water into wine, then to get our current crop of players winning games against sides such as Leicester, Ipswich, Crystal Palace and Fulham ? :o
Or that it would be easier to turn water into wine than being ahead of masterful genius of a coach that is Nuno who is leading Nottingham Forest?

I have never, not even once, seen that anyone would blame Ange for us not being in competition to WIN EPL.
But playing for 41 games in 55 point schedule that would have resulted in 8th-11th place finish in past 4 seasons is absolutely lightyears from winning the title, isn't it?

Laugh at me all you like.

The reality is we were missing 8 first team players yesterday and ended up bringing on youngsters like Bergval and Lankshear to win the game.

Harry Wilson has proven this season that he can impact a game off the bench and is a decent premier league level player. I hope I'm wrong but Bergval will probably be out on loan in one of the Scandanavian leagues by the end of January. And as for Muniz, he scored 9 league goals last season despite only starting half their games. He was also keeping Jiminez out of the team for their first 6 games so he is very well able back up. Lankshear will be out on loan in the Championship next season.

So yes keep laughing. I'm a troll and an idiot. Glad you all find me amusing. And yes I hope you are all correct and Bergval is better than Wilson and Lankshear is better than Muniz but they are a level below at this moment.
I might be missing something here so help me out. Who are the 8 first team players injured? I can count 5 but am struggling after that?

Where have you been the last 5 years?

Changing manager every 18 months is what we've done, in fact Ange is the first one to complete a whole season since Poch. Tell me, how has that worked out?

Honestly?

Overall better than we are doing now.
During that spell we did finish 4th too. And made it to the cup final.

Neither of things will be achieved while trying something in every 2nd game.

Right now we are nailed on 55 point finish in EPL.
Worst we've done after Poch era is 59. If we keep going on like we have for past year, we will not get even that.

So I'd reflect back to you. If that has been a shit spell, why do you want us to do shittier than shit from here on?

What about all the over results where we dropped points but had a next to fully strength squad

Context is all I'm saying. We are missing so many players, have had so many poor results, yet we only sit 5 points off second! The way your going on makes it sound like we are already 10 points behind top 4 and that this season is a write off
But we have never been threatening the top it's always a case of "only 30 points off 5th we can do this"

I'm sure even the mouthiest gobshite (coach Stel I am looking at you) is fed up with changing manager but in the words of Dirty Harry "do you feel lucky". Our schism is do we think this is the coach to stick with.
I say he is so limited he won't be around this time next year and Larry I am counting on you to come up with the receipts to prove me wrong when we lift the Europa.

I thought beating Man City 4-0 at the Etihad indicated progress
It was a great win but their form is really poor and we failed to build on it which has happened several times after a good result .Injuries have definitely cost us due to a average squad but overall for me progress if you can call it that is small .Will wait for a fully fit squad to really see if things could work out and hopefully they do .

Well I think the job is pretty much mission impossible right now

Ref Nuno , I did not like the style of football . However Marinakis has chucked money at Forest and has taken them from Championship strugglers to 6th in the league . Chelsea were way behind us and now are well ahead , same with Woolwich . I will be surprised if United don’t overtake us soon .

The facts are pretty clear the clubs that spend money and especially on salaries are the most successful over a sustained period . I doubt Forest stay there this season but there improvement is financial support of the manager driven.

I believe we are squeezing salaries and recruiting kids, so no I don’t think we are guaranteed the next guy does any better . If we want success we have to invest accordingly and we won’t

Tbh i like to simplify things in life. Looking at fans reaction and posts on here. The fans arent happy. Id say judge him end of season and tbh he painted a target for himself saying he wins something 2nd season. If he does then great delighted. If we dont he will go.
