Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I back Ange. This ain't his fault, nor is it the players. If you want to direct your anger anywhere direct it at the board. Ange is doing exactly what he said he would do before they employed him. The board always tries to blag it by doing just about enough... Cue an unexpected injury crisis and we're heavily exposed. It's not Ange's fault our squad needs 2 years of rebuilding. The next month will be shit, suck it up and deal with it because it aint gonna get better until we get our first team squad fit. Sacking him will make fuck all difference.
What injury crisis did we have when we stunk the gaff out vs Palace and Ipswich?

Must admit, now is the first time I'd put him in the 'under pressure' category. There is extenuating circumstances, but it hasn't been good enough. I hope we don't make the same mistake again, but it's Levy's way and if we lose a couple more this month I fear for him.

I think the fat lady is doing her warm up routine.

Really we've only seen glimpses of the type of football his other teams have played

Its likely a combination of his management, and the players he has. Either way, 18 months and it still hasn't "clicked".

Wish his replacement the best of luck. He'll need it.

stats tonight.

35%-65% possession
8 -4 shots on target
3-0 clear cut chances

this whole gung ho shit is not working is it when the other team have more shots on target and more importantly more clear cut chances! the football is diabolical, we have CB's having everyone in front of them with their back to goal, football is fucking hard when you have your back to goal and have to take the ball on the turn, its fucking easy when you have everything in front of you and runners to play in. we are playing this handicapped scenario every single game and we dont have players good enough to play this, especially when they are up against good players themselves. its so fucking braindead.

this might work when youre up against a bunch of plasterers and plumbers, but in this league you're not up against mugs and we aint got the likes of iniesta and messi in the team. trying to be the big dogs in every game is fucking cringe, especially when they are having far better chances by playing a far easier brand of football. it really is fucking embarrassing that its been allowed to go on this long.

we are 11th in the table over the last year of league games....fucking disgraceful.

Fat fraud getting exposed week by week.

Writing on the wall now.

Obviously we lose to Chelsea. Away at Rangers is no gimme.

Fail to beat Southampton, get knocked out of league cup by United and pumped by Pool and that could be curtains before xmas.

Unfortunately when the team has a long injury list and key players that make Ange's system work are out. Ange should adapt and change how the team plays. Ange hasn't and Spurs keep losing so Ange will face whatever shit comes his way. I honestly believe that Ange will be sacked tomorrow
I agree with you. The big concern about Postecoglou is that he is so reluctant to adjust to the opponent or in game situation. He believes, rightly or wrongly, that the key is to multiply opportunities by telling players to always maximize aggressiveness on the attack. I think that's wrong, but that's the foundation of his system. You can possibly pull that style off, but the recovery runs of the center backs are vitally important. As for Postecoglou being fired, I don't think it will happen in season unless things get much worse in the second half. Levy and the board have painted themselves in a corner with him. Everything is built around Postecoglou's philosophy and going with another manager would be like turning an ocean liner around. It wouldn't make sense unless you moved to another very aggressive manager and even then would the results be different with the same players?

I'm miffed by the calibre of players that we sign. Solanke, Grey, Odobert, Johnson, Richarlison - That's 250m on players that have never achieved anything.

Outside of Kulu/Bent time at Juventus; nobody in the squad has any experience of playing for a high performing squad. Most of our recent signings have come from relegation strugglers, and they do not have a winning mentality and they are conditioned simply for survival.

I can see why Ange is losing his patience with the players. He is used to winning and demands high performance, but this group of players simply isn't up to it.

Unfortunately its a lot easier to sack the manager than the players.

A good point - you can really feel the lack of mettle and leadership in the squad. As the senior pros, Sonny and Mads are soft touch captains in a young squad. No strong personalities to rally the group, and a whole lot of limp powder puff. I wonder what many of them are playing for besides the paycheck, if I'm honest.

Solanke and Gray have both shown more gumption and desire than the rest despite being new and a lack of service/being played out of position.

I guess my biggest criticism of Ange is when his rotations don't make sense and he drops points because of it. He had a working formula against Man City against all odds. How hard was it to keep the starting XI from that team, and play it again against Roma, and play it again against Fulham, and play it again against Bournemouth. I know we picked up some injuries like Vicario, so he has to change like-for-like with the best replacement, but I genuinely don't understand the likes of bringing Johnson back into the team, dropping Kulu from the right and then dropping Maddison and Son, etc. It's just insanity to me, like he is overthinking ways to bring Johnson or others back into the team. If he starts the closest team that started against City and has the same results, I could have no complaints. He talks about consistency but isn't consistent in his line-ups.

Ironically he was being criticised before today for not rotating enough, particularly in regards to Porro and Udogie. I don't think it's possible for this set of players to be playing every few days.

If we lose on sunday, i think he will be sacked.

I think In Premier League, there are two or three managers that could be a good replacement... Iraola, Silva or Thomas Frank. Three managers that are working in smaller clube with lower budgets.

Any manager coming to this club with an injury ravaged, soulless squad and any knowledge of Daniel Levy’s MO would be on a hiding to nothing.
It will be more of the same from whoever is foolish enough to take the job. Grab a great salary knowing it’ll be curtains for you before the ink has fully dried on the contract is the type of manager who might sniff around the job given the plain facts in front of them.
Utterly depressing.

Didn't Ange state he was happy with the squad in the summer? And then went on to remind us that all incomings and outgoings are his call and to cap it off, he ALWAYS wins a trophy in his second season. He could have headed a lot of this off by explaining this is a transition season.

But he's a yes man trying to front Levys illusion of ambition

I’m the one that says yes or no. They’re here because I want them here

“You want to go into every window and come out the other side of it in a stronger sense and I certainly feel that.

“The players we’ve brought in are already making a short-term impact and even in the longer term, I think they’re going to be really good contributors for us.

“I certainly think we’ve got a more well-rounded squad to deal with Europe, the extra games and whatever injuries we have. So yeah, I think it’s been a real positive window.

“I’m very happy. We’ve done a hell of a lot of work in 12 months, three windows. No doubts the squad’s changed.

“The demographic of the squad has changed, the suitability to the football I want to play, we’re much better equipped for that. There’s growth in the team, absolutely.

“We needed to do some fairly major work 12 months ago and since then we’ve gone a long way to getting the team to where we want to.

“There’s still more work to be done. It was never going to happen quickly. I don’t think it should happen quickly. When it does happen quickly, you’re more fraught to getting it wrong. So I think we’re in a good place.”

Wheres the cult of Ange now?

Iroela cultists can fuck off too. Everyone jumps on the new thing. Iroelas spent what? 1 season in this league.

Ooo fancy new name. Ooo hipster tactics. Ooo J league grandmaster.

Fuck outta here. We’re absolutely wank. Zero substance to our game. The worst weve been prior to Redknapps takeover.

Iraola did fairly well with a poor squad in La Liga before he came to England so it seems like he can get a lot out of his players. He is pragmatic aswell unlike Ange.

Ok, your point on Iraola i accept. But for example, Silva and Thomas Frank. Long term they are doing very well with average squads and budgets
