Fucking ghastly fixture this. Rangers hate Ange, they'll be well up for this and the atmosphere will be so hot. You need your senior heads in this and no silly mistakes, unfortunately we have none of that. It should be our strongest 11 as this is our only real chance at success this season, but who knows what the condition is of any of them.

I actually forgot about the Celtic connection lol, these will be determined to put the final blow to Ange for the sack.

This does seem like one of those cruel twists of fate, doesn't it? He absolutely tortured them as manager of Celtic and now they've got the opportunity for ultimate payback.

I fear this is the game that sees Porro and/or Udogie succumb to some kind of pull or tear...

Then we'll be left with Ryan Mason coming out of retirement to play fullback ahead of DJ Ed for the Southampton game.

We need to find a way to just win here! I'd love an ugly 1-0 win. Thats the type of result we need right now. I don't even want another chaotic 7 goal thriller. Just go there, mind your own business, and get the job done!

I just checked my pulse to ascertain my excitement level for this game. Apparently I'm dead.

Honestly I was quite excited about our chances of winning this cup at the start of the season, given United are the only other team in it that are even close to our level of spending and we've tonked them several times over the last few years. However, the last few weeks have really killed my enthusiasm for any aspect of this season. If we can come unstuck against the likes of Bournemouth, Palace and Ipswich and can't even find the mental fortitude to see out a game against our 2nd closest rivals at home when we really need a win, what fucking chance have we got in the deeper stages of the EL? I don't think a scrappy 3-2 win should save his job here either, Rangers are absolute fucking dross, anything but a resounding 4-0 win should really see him off.

At this point I should like to quote a biblical phrase from Jeremiah, chapter 20, verse 11

"The Lord is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonor will never be forgotten. But we ain't fucking winning this one."

Forster
Porro Dragusin Gray Udogie
Bissouma Bentancur
Maddison Bergval Werner
Lankshear

Unfortunately we can't rotate the defence at all with Davies, Romero and VDV all injured and Spence not available for selection. Even if VDV is fit, I can't see us risking him. Man United in the cup next week is our big game so we can't take any chances before that! With Bissouma now suspended for the weekend it makes sense to start him here beside Bentancur. I quite like the idea of beefing up the midfield for an away game like this. Bergval and Maddison both need starts too so I think we just play both of them with them both rotating between the right and the middle. Solanke and Brennan both need rests and its probably no harm to give Kulusevski and Son a rest too. I think this team is strong enough to win and plenty of important players getting well needed rests.
