We weren't this bad cos I can't remember us conceding 6 so if you're gonna go all in then use the facts better.

I think our current situation is heavily affected by lack of rotation and fatigue. We also need a better squad.
Billy,

How can Ange put Archie in that sort of situation? He gives the team absolutely zero support and places absurd demands upon them.

We could have set up like Poch used to do against City. You have Dragusin, who’s a bit of a tank but ok in the air. Have a flat back 4 and surrender the flanks, but pack the middle of our box. Make sure they can’t play through us. You then roll the dice and, basically, ride your luck with crosses.

You then have Maddison sit alongside Biss and tell Son and Kulu that the moment we win the ball back, they have to be ready to go. Sarr is given free range to foul anyone and everyone and break up play. Tell Solanke the games going to suck but he just has to occupy their CBs.

We can’t go head to head with Liverpool. It’s fucking stupid.

Why is he allowed to be so inflexible? And if he is, seriously, what’s the point of him?

"It's just who we are, mate."

Jesus that's a joke

Exactly a man’s tactics need everyone to commit or they won’t work. Ange could go into another club that is more professional but he chose to be here. He is like loyal dog but we keep kicking him instead of praising the good things he does
What? Every other top club would have sacked him already.
He’s got the best gig he’ll ever have here and it’s the biggest club he’ll ever manage.

I’d say we’ve been very kind compared to the treatment he would have received at other clubs with his tactics.

The Ange issue is that I keep having visions of Porro bombing forward at full speed then jogging back while the opposition attacks down his wide open side. How much of that is on Ange and how much is on Porro? That’s the hard part we don’t have much visibility on.

Ange can’t exactly drop him at the moment given there is so little option to replace him in the squad.
Just needs to play spence at right back. Hes hybrid. Porro is way too attack minded to the deriment of the defence.

Neutrals are entertained. But I don't give a shit about them being entertained.

I hear you ; but we crossed the Rubicon six months ago IMO.

Might as well enjoy the ride and see what happens. LFC in the Carabao is obviously a stumbling block. But why not see where this leads ; possibly the Europa, possibly 4th in the EPL …

Personally I’ve got zero appetite for another mid-season sacking / manager-search. We’ve done it enough times ( surely ? ) .

Let the games continue; if all goes south over the next few months; then do things purposefully and intelligently in the summer .

The last paragraph was for you Danny ; if you happen to be reading this .

Our supporters have long been a large part of our problem.
Too soft. Too slow to hold the club to account. Too quiet. And too fast to kick the easy target.

Maybe Ange isn't so sensible against a good side with a depleted squad of his own. But it works some times, and, like you say, nobody complains.

My fear is that a more tactically flexible manager would have also lost this game, but just by one or two.

So the question is: do we want Ange or a manager whose tactics help conceal the root cause of our multi decade failure?

I never found this "project" argument convincing. Basically the claim that they'll be extremely patient with him because they brought him here as part of a grand project, involving lots of young player development and growing together with the manager at the helm.

If you decide to go with that kind of a project, you'll look for certain specifics in your manager. A history of development of youth, of getting his teams punch above their weight, maybe someone who has a long managerial career ahead of him just like the players he's going to manage. Just three examples off the top of my head. Honestly, I don't see how Ange checks any of the these boxes, or any other possible ones. He's not a young and upcoming manager. He has no history of overachieving, other than in obscure leagues where there is parity for the most part. His average tenure in a club lasts 2-3 years, so he probably sees no point in investing time and energy into developing prospects. Like I said before, he gives the exact opposite impression to me: A chequebook manager who will bulldoze his way towards competitions if given vastly superior resources. How is he a good fit for this club then?

His appointment was probably due to convenience more than anything, and they kept him in the summer for the exact same reason. They just took a quick look at the table and said : "66 points and 5th place? That'll do"

I'm afraid he's staying here due to inertia and lack of any appealing alternatives, not because they're very satisfied with the job he's doing. If that's the case, he may still finish the season but most likely will not be here for long unless he wins a cup or something.

This is the kind of stupid shit that brings ridicule from all corners of the football world.

If you have a tired, diminished squad then you can try and play slightly differently, especially in a tough game. Be a bit more compact, play on the break, make it harder for the opponent to enter the box. Anyone who watches football understands that. Fucking Sean Dyche can coach his team to a 0-0 against Chelsea yet we can’t even win the game at 2-0 up.

Ange seems to think that we can either play to attack or play to defend, which is asinine. You have to find a balance and an approach that suits the players you have available and the opponent on the day. Having plan A is fine but sometimes that has to be tweaked. That’s sport. This is not a video game where there is a single cheat code that makes you unbeatable. You always have to adapt. He simply doesn’t want to acknowledge this.

His agog incredulity at being asked how he might look to adapt the team is borderline trolling.

carragher was ripping into him. he said that slot was actually taking the piss out of ange in his presser and people took it as him complimenting him. i havent watched it but i actually like carragher, hes calling out ange for what he is. i always thought that the neutrals always hid from talking about the problems at spurs but to be fair to carragher he calls it out.

Ok he leaves and then we have someone worse who doesn’t even be brave like Ange with how we play. We like an ugly girl at the ball and saying we don’t want to dance with Ange because he going bald. Then we go sit in the dark and get fiddled by Mr Southgate

We battered City by 4 at theirs and nobody cared a day later. The beating we gave City was much worse than this.
and someone actually agreed to this post, we really are a cuck fanbase.

City had 23 fucking shots against us to our 9. We were just ridiculously clinical.

Today Liverpool had 24 fucking shots away from home to our 9 and an expected goals ratio of 4.60. They missed around 5 other easy chances after scoring SIX.

"the beating we gave City was much worse than this". People literally just say shit just to say it.
