Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Watched a good bit of Ipswich v Chelsea and Delap looks great every time I see him. Strong, tenacious, busy, tough, good shot. Could be someone’s striker for the next decade. He won’t be that for Ipswich.

Are managers even more knowledgeable about footballers not within their immediate proximity than your average football fan is? These guys spend most of their time on the training ground, dealing with their own players. What makes anybody think that they have the necessary energy and desire to keep up with dozens of players from other teams and leagues in their limited spare time?

"Back the manager by signing players that are handpicked by him" has to be one of the most misguided shouts in terms of squad building. The ultimate goal should be the exact opposite: To establish a recruitment system where manager has minimal impact, because there are already specialists who are employed specifically for this purpose.
If you ask any top league head-coach/manager you'll see everyone one of them have a waste knowledge of football talent world wide. They also get feed-back about their own academy players and the brightest talents in other clubs.
Thing is that they rarely talk about it as they don't want other clubs to be alerted by their interest or let the concerning clubs know that they're keeping an eye one them.

Yet VdV keeps pulling hamstrings while chasing after oppo strikers who have broken from the halfway line.
It's not a sustainable "tactic"
Well, that was my point: if the coaching-team do not prepare their players properly for such strenuous systems the chances of getting injured is (much) higher.
It worked in lesser league somehow but Angelos lack of top-league football may be a part of it. He said that players would get used to his "ways" after the 1st season...but now it's getting even worse...

Absolutely.

2 or 3 more or different signings were needed in the summer.

Stupid strategy. Not so much an issue of expenditure but how we spent.

I get the impression we look at everything in an entirely mathematical manner. ‘Oh we have dropped down the league it’s time to spend’ not understanding that as the team declines or is underpowered from prior lack of support it gradually falls in on itself. You only have to look at how the Poch team withered over time until we had to spend to see that. Strengthening from a position of strength can actually be cheaper over time than from a position of weakness but as we do that I expect oddly we will do quite a bit this window.

If we don't I would be very very concerned.

Within the squad I am unsure we have enough to dig us out of a trench if we get sucked into one. It has quality but only when things are going well. Bizarrely it is exactly the same issue United have.

Same. Was a problem for us as well.

Has a bit of Drogba in his mentality. Relentless and goes after every single hoof from a CB or GK but can also play in tight spaces and create himself space to get a shot off. Makes clever runs as well.

:harryhmm::harrylol:

Just get Niko, and Crouchie. That'll do.

Thinking a 6 month loan for Kelleher to solve the GK problem. Maybe with an option to buy. Kelleher wants first team football and if he can maintain his place after Vic returns from injury then he might see us a viable.

Forster has generally done well since the Vic injury, but has obviously got limitations in his game play.

never really been impressed when I’ve watched him. I wonder how much better than Keeley he actually is.

But whatever we do, we need bodies in this week.

No point faffing late into the window if we are doing it to reinforce the squad for results
