Have you ever noticed how any half decent team manages to outnumber our attackers AND our defenders all game long?
We push everyone up, but we spend all game passing side to side, into the middle, back out wide, back into the middle. And then we lose the ball, and in the blink of an eye, the opposition have 3, even 4 on 2 breaks.
It's bonkers that we get outnumbered at both ends of the pitch.
It's a recurring question I'm left pondering, how do we look so feeble in attack and yet so bereft in defence???

Do half our players just frequently piss off for a cup of tea off camera?

Teams have made adjustments against us for sure, but I think the biggest problem this year has been the total lack of anything resembling daring wingplay from the wide men. You can invert fullbacks, you can overlap, you can do many different things, but at the heart of it is you need someone to either pass the ball with imagination or to beat their opponent carrying the ball in the final third to be successful.

I also think the general cowardice from the wide players who are afraid to expose themselves to losing take ons, and ferrying the ball back to a congested middle directly leads to those turnovers being more dangerous. If you lose the ball wide it is far easier to cut off passing options than if you lose it in the middle.
We've got supposed "pace merchants" playing in a system that actively restricts any space for them to utilise their only asset.

In this system you could bring Figo and Ginola out of retirement and they'd do a better job than our current lot (in an attacking sense), even at walking pace.

Is it general cowardice from the wide players or a lack of guile though or a combination of the two? I mean two quick wingers in Johnson and Werner should put the fear of God into defenders. Oh for a Waddle or a Ginola
Only if they're isolated and there's space to be exploited, the way Ange wants us to play restricts that and we essentially nullify ourselves.

Glad he's calling it out for what it is. Newcastle should have had 2 red cards and a goal less in the first half.

We hit the post and created great chances second half whilst having a real go at them.

Today was a disgrace for the PL. I'm done with trying rationalize the way these officials behave.

Not sure what great chances we created. Think they had the better stats on big chances created.

Not saying I agree or disagree. Just pointing out why the Ange Out sentiment within the stadium isn't as strong as some people think it should be.
As Larry David Larry David said, he's fucking nailed it.

The stadium us just meh now.
Outside of a few little moments on Saturday, most people were just "there"

Heard a few muted "we want Levy out" chants, but nothing attention grabbing. No songs for Ange.

I don't think many there are staunchly in either camp. Just totally beaten down and fed up but no strong opinion on what's next.

It's an unpleasant analogy, but it is like a person in an unhappy relationship. There is a better life outside of it, but making the break is hard.

Ange Postecoglou 'is facing an FA probe' after claiming 'things weren't equal' over controversial refereeing decisions in Tottenham's loss to Newcastle

Ange Postecoglou is reportedly facing an FA probe over his comments following Tottenham's 2-1 home defeat by Newcastle.

Spurs continued their poor form as they suffered a 10th league defeat of the season and Postecoglou was left aggrieved by some of referee Andrew Madley's decisions.

His sense of injustice revolved around Newcastle's first goal, an equaliser scored by Anthony Gordon after the ball clearly struck Joelinton on the hand as he blocked a pass.

Referee Madley did not see an offence and it was not overruled by the VAR Chris Kavanagh because Joelinton's hand was in a natural position and the contact was ruled to be accidental.

Postecoglou said after the game: 'On the balance of play, any balance you want with all things being equal, we would have won today. Things weren't equal and balanced.'

When pushed by the reporter on what decisions he particularly disagreed with, the 59-year-old lashed out.

'You can talk about whatever you want,' he said. 'You want my opinion - if all things were equal and balanced we would have won.'

As reported by the Mirror, Postecoglou could be in trouble, though managers are allowed to express opinions on referees and decisions if they don't hint at bias or question an official's integrity.

The FA have not launched a full investigation yet but want to know what Postecoglou meant with his comments.

If the Australian admits his comments were directed at the referee, he could face a touchline ban or a fined.

Tottenham were incensed when a foul was awarded against Dan Burn for a similar handball offence as the game escaped them. Alexander Isak scored Newcastle's winner.
Throw the book at him with luck 12 game ban from being anywhere near the squad.

Oh great, the blind leading the blind in terms of experience of success in top level European football.

Yokohama Marinos? Melbourne Heart? Celtic? Jesus..
This is what I've tried to point out for months. The people we have put in positions of leadership at our club are not even third rate. It's incredible what we have allowed to happen. We have built the best stadium in Europe and filled with people not fit to run a concessions stand. When people tell me to 'have faith' in his system I'm staggered.

And you can also include getting in each other’s way on one side of the pitch while the other side is totally exposed!

Kamikaze football at it’s worst!

Postecoglou is his birth name which he opts to use.

Holding the shortening of his surname against him, when it was instigated by his parents when he was 10 years old seems rather pathetic even for you!

Well I heard a rumour Pele was a fraudster too.
Don’t even get me started on Hulk!!

Can you believe they were not given those names at birth??

Sure these guys are all phone scam artists during the week.

Wondering what your football mates - Spurs or other clubs think about Ange.

When I show mine what spurs twitter, reddit, youtube or here/SC have to say on Ange they to a man cannot believe it that Spurs faithful are Ange out. Some follow us, others follow different clubs. To a man they believe our match going fanbase are idiotic and thick for wanting Postecoglou sacked and that he is being cruelled by unprecedented injuries. Hard to gauge as we do have national bias.
In terms of Spurs mates I know I think we're all in agreement, we shouldn't sack him but if we keep going like this we probably will and then continue our merry-go-round from the past few years. Most of us were shocked how early Spurs fans turned on Ange, but I've always felt the perception of match going fans has been different to here and online, think the online Spurs fans give us a bad name tbh, only in the last few weeks has that tide actually been felt at games.

As for other clubs, I reckon most of them are surprised and seem to just be glad they don't have to pretend to like us. I think obviously it's going to be a different perception over here but seems like most are resigned to the fact we'll butcher this and sack him, then not know what to do next.

Yeah I get what you're saying but our manager under uses our most effective wide player at carrying the ball in the final third in Werner.

And drops our most imaginative passer, Maddison to the bench.

An absolute tosser like you probably doesn't even have the intelligence to work out why that is incredibly offensive, good one mate.
I'm confused, genuinely.
Wiki says the family changed their name when he was 10 because shortening your name was a fad.
I can't tell if they got the fad wrong and made it longer, of if Postekos was the fad and wasn't the original family name?
