Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Again, this is why I just cannot fathom why we did not sack him after Ipswich. Potentially going to be Levy's greatest mistake in a history fraught with them.
Levy's mistakes have become more frequent and more catastrophic since he sacked Poch after not backing him.

His managerial appointments in particular have been back to back failures on 4 occasions.

Whatever Levy had, in respect of luck or judgement, has clearly been eluding him for the last 5 years.

It's one terrible decision after another.

Levy would have sacked Levy, by his own measure, about 4 years ago.

Apologies if it’s already been mentioned but Douglas Luiz on load with an option to buy would be a decent signing.

We struck it lucky with this type of deal with Juve before and Luiz is proven in the Premier League.

Well, I don't go for the Saint Poch idea that the failed transfer windows were 100% Levy's fault. Poch bears blame for that, as well, and little about his work post-Spurs earns him the retrospective certainty that he should have had carte blanche here.

Honestly, I get tired of talking about it. It was great when it was great, but it ended badly and he's got a share of the blame in how it ended.

Mourinho was always a cynical appointment. But I think most at the time believed that what we needed was that pragmatic winning-above-all mentality that Poch's squad was lacking. Sacking him before a cup final made a joke out of the only rationale for hiring him to begin with.

Retrospectively, sacking Nuno so quickly was probably a mistake. Whatever you think about him - he was doing better than we are now and he's proven very capable with less resources. Hiring Conte was a huge mistake, doomed to failure.

It was revisiting everything that was wrong with hiring Mourinho. Until we hired Ange, I thought hiring Conte was Levy's biggest mistake.

Now it's:
  1. Not sacking Ange after Ipswich
  2. Hiring Ange
  3. Hiring Conte
  4. Sacking Mourinho before the LC Final
  5. Hiring Mourinho
  6. Selling Rangers and darkening the door of THFC.

Richarlison, Solanke, Maddison, Bissouma, Romero, Vicario, VDV.. none teenagers.

Like I get we are buying a lot very promising young players right now, which we should be, but to say we only do it isn't 100% correct, especially as you mentioned a non teenager. Good or not, worked out or not.... we don't only spend on under 20s and as you see the biggest problem as being ange I would imagine you feel with the team we have built we should be doing much better than we are.

Well obviously. We've taken 5 points out of 30, lost 12 games and we are 15th. Our squad should be around top 6, and we would be with a competent manager, but that doesn't change the fact we badly need top quality signings to improve the side and actually make us a competitive team at the top.

I think getting CL would be tough with our team, however under a very good manager we could do it. Just look where Forest are and Bournemouth. The right manager can have a massive impact.

You only have to look at Woolwich. They have some good players but fucking hell, they are hardly world beaters. Yet Arteta has them right up there. He's a cunt, and his football is more pragmatic than free flowing, but he has made them very hard to beat generally and defensively they are strong. It's down to Arteta. Yeah he's been backed and spent a fair bit of money but their best players are Odegard, Saliba, Gabriel, Rice and Saka and only Rice cost big money.

Arteta is extracting consistently strong form out of his players, because of excellent coaching and management. Although the main thing against him is lack of trophies, he's made them a consistent challenger.

If we hire the right manager, it would elevate our team to top 4/5. To get any higher, we would need some very good signings in key positions.

That is pathetic. Every word of it, sorry.

No point even being polite about it.

But really. Its very odd that Spurs fans think they should be anywhere near the likes of Chelsea, United, Liverpool, Woolwich, City.

Spurs got lucky with Bale and Kane; and are now back to being a regular club.

Do West Ham, Palace, Everton fans cry that they aren't winning every year?

We picked a mid table club to support. The club and board aren't interested in going to the next level by using financial doping, so we now have to wait until the next Bale or Kane come along to give us a purple patch.......Bergvall looks like he could be decent in 3 or 4 years.
