Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well obviously. We've taken 5 points out of 30, lost 12 games and we are 15th. Our squad should be around top 6, and we would be with a competent manager, but that doesn't change the fact we badly need top quality signings to improve the side and actually make us a competitive team at the top.

I think getting CL would be tough with our team, however under a very good manager we could do it. Just look where Forest are and Bournemouth. The right manager can have a massive impact.

You only have to look at Woolwich. They have some good players but fucking hell, they are hardly world beaters. Yet Arteta has them right up there. He's a cunt, and his football is more pragmatic than free flowing, but he has made them very hard to beat generally and defensively they are strong. It's down to Arteta. Yeah he's been backed and spent a fair bit of money but their best players are Odegard, Saliba, Gabriel, Rice and Saka and only Rice cost big money.

Arteta is extracting consistently strong form out of his players, because of excellent coaching and management. Although the main thing against him is lack of trophies, he's made them a consistent challenger.

If we hire the right manager, it would elevate our team to top 4/5. To get any higher, we would need some very good signings in key positions.

Yeah, all very reasonable except it did take Arteta 3 years to get them there - not saying Ange should be given more time just that his young players - all the ones you mentioned, took time to settle and get playing his football - definitely wasn't over night and he faced a lot of calls for his head early on.

Can anyone financially literate explain where the other 58% of revenue is going, and why we must commit it to others activities unlike other clubs?
It goes into exploiting ways to make more revenue. And so the cycle continues. The football club is the host body being used to further non football related ambition and revenue streams.
I don't use the term lightly, but ENIC are the very definition of the term "Parasites "

The below is not meant to reflect any individual , living or dead , or even undead . A comparison to Nosferatu is totally unfounded.

You all seem very disheartened right now so i thought I would give you all a pep talk . When I was 15 I was really struggling at school especially with my GCSE in Creative Dance. But I was very determined not to fail , so I got my uncle to build a new gym for the school . Hey presto my grades for my course work ( Dancing with Alopecia , I know what you are thinking but it really was her name, was a masterpiece if I say so myself) which played a big part of my grade suddenly improved appreciably . I think this was an invaluable lesson to me in my working life , if in trouble get my uncle to buy a business and get him to make me CEO . So next time dear customers when life seems hard, do what I do phone a multi billionaire relative . I am living proof you can be totally incompetent and still get to boss people around and my favourite bit is firing people for my mistakes .

So chin up suckers , life’s a breeze in my world. I really hope you found it inspirational .

Yeah I bet Iarola and the gang are itching to become Spurs managers now aren't they...
If I was to guess, Nagelsmann probably asked Levy if the wage bracket would go up to match the most ambitious clubs in the PL and that’s where the conversation ended.

The reason why any future coach would be from the Silva, Iraola, McKenna bracket and not the Xavi or Alonso bracket is because those guys would still be getting a bigger wage bracket than the clubs they are at.

Any serious coach these days will ask their club to match the wage spending of the biggest clubs in the league

At least you're honest about your position. Respect for that.
For those who've spent years frothing at the mouth yelling at me. "there's no such thing as a Levy supporter!".... take note

I never blamed people for being pro Levy. I think they saw this business man who was quite awkward but did love the club and was trying through prudent means to slowly build us up the football pyramid and of course coming after Sugar who is such a low bar it made him easier to swallow.

I just saw a man who was clever and at times useful but fundamentally totally in it for himself. The Stratford move, not helping Redknapp or Poch when we were at the top, the pathetic entirely money oriented way we do transfers. Being a cynic and having worked with one or two tight arses I never liked the man. He is a cold selfish fish. He views the fanbase as a cow to be milked because we are loyal.

Now it’s just naked for everyone to see. We spend more on transfers but much less on wages, no real ambition other than to get the Rolling Stones and Beyoncé in town. I could understand supporting Levy a few years back or believe he might really be doing things to help, I am struggling now to think of how you could support the guy if you are a Spurs fan because if you are an Woolwich or Chelsea fan this guy is a dream ticket to keep your rival low and shit. Other than the Glazers and maybe the dildos I struggle to think of worse owners for the actual club than them.

Other than an ENIC sale I don’t see where we go from here. It’s really toxic, stale and somewhat pathetic.

Definitely the most downbeat we've seen him. This club does this to every coach, one way or another.
I'll give you that.

Ange is what he is as a coach and as a man, and he should never have been anywhere near the Spurs gig...or any PL one for that matter...even as 128th pick.

That said, there's no denying he'd be better at both if he had a serious chairman and proper players. He's in the worst position as Spurs manager...getting fucked from every angle.

Needs to go back down a level (or several), find a club with much less pressure and a better environment...get winning, get happy again. His financial future is secure.

Obviously I don’t agree with you on the level he should work at. I’m not sure why you keep saying it to me tbh mate.

A manager working at the wrong level doesn’t win 4-0 at Man City or beat Liverpool twice in 2 seasons.

Is he Klopp or Pepp? Looks like no but going down a few levels? That’s a fantasy in your head imo just to justify why you’ve turned on another coach.

I don’t blame you btw, our fans have been well conditioned by this club to blame managers.

Even if he weren’t downbeat, he should fucking look like he is. He’s having a nightmare and it would look a bit daft if he came out telling knock knock jokes and wearing a silly hat.

And he’s been asking for help with the squad and got fuck all. I’d be in the huff too.

Shame to see, but aye, we seem to break them all.

Honestly, I’d have more respect for him refusing to let it get to him.

Maybe just me but I don’t have much patience for people feeling sorry for themselves. And to me that’s the vibe I’m getting from him atm

Tough position really. Too downbeat and he’s broken. Too upbeat and he’s not taking the situation seriously enough.

No huge surprise that managers seem to age three times faster than normal people.
