The only way we get someone better than peak Son
Well, one thing that makes it easier is this IS NOT "peak Son". I can see Odobert or Moore being more impactful very soon. As soon as later this season, in fact.

We're talking about "good management" though- where you make the best use of what you have. If we are stuck with this roster for the 2nd half of the season we'll need very good management to shepherd us through this next leg.

Tbh I'm talking about Son and the LWF position.

Moore looks like he might be about to have his first breakout and could easily be pushing for PL starts sooner rather than later.

Nope, read back again.

Is this like one of those trippy student posters.... The more you stare at it; eventually it changes shape and you see a Dolphin. : P

(You're complaining that Levy won't fork out for BETTER than PEAK world-class Son in the trf market.... Once again on the over-simplistic and often dis-proven premise that "if you pay they will come".)

Did Salah arrive world-class?
The countless WFs that Chavs have burned money on?
.....Inc. Neto (that you complain more and more that we didn't get)?
90m man Anthony?
100m Grealish?
Sancho?

........Out of curiosity; who was the last bonafide, off-the peg world class golden-boot level winger that arrive in the EPL?

I'm struggling to think of one.

how is Richarlison is 2nd in that list....
He must've played the 1200 minutes from when they started measuring. Could be an explanation for his many injuries. Amazing Son hasn't been injured yet. Instead of being praised for his contribution, he's instead essentially murdered just because he happens to be 32. Nobody can remain fresh throughout a season 25 or 32 years old, if they have to run that much.

That's why it's so unfair when people say that his legs are gone. He has both reached one of the highest speeds in the entire league and also covered more ground than any other attacker.

But haters got to hate I guess.

A match against a relegation fodder in a league where defensive solidity is not the biggest concern shouldn't be the yardstick to measure any attackers. They'd give Southampton a run for their money in terms of how disorganized a team can be at the back. But let's carry on.

He is who he is. Still pretty good when he receives the ball in open spaces close to the center of the pitch, facing the goal. Doesn't offer much else in terms of holding the ball in tight spaces, linking up the play and so on. Close to an old school poacher that is a very situational player because the team needs to carry him on its back in many areas of the game.

These players represent a dying breed though, even as strikers. Let alone wingers.

I feel like he would be absolutely lethal coming off the bench for the last 20 mins, shame that Odo and Moore got injured because I think and believe the plan was for them to share the mins and Son to supplement them.

So does Haaland, as long as he keeps scoring goal it is fine.
Yes, i agree. Its a luxury type of player that rest of the team needs to carry through the game so he can finish.

Problem starts when we had 2 luxury players like this to carry at once (i.e. Son and BJ), or when they struggle to finish (like Son against Everton).

Today we needed him to score and do nothing else. And it worked perfectly despite other obvious struggles.

As I said in the match thread - the single most important thing in the next 3 weeks is Son finding his lethal finishing and having the confidence and instinct to take the shot before anyone else expects it.

Son is the forward working hardest in all of the top leagues worldwide. How can you call that being a luxury player? You can't be aware of the hard work he's actually putting in.
