You don't make an agreement with the club unless you have an idea that the player is interested.

I just think he knows he'll have a choice of clubs if a deal can be agreed. I can see it dragging out until Monday. Once United know what's happening with Rashford and/or Garnacho, Woolwich know where they stand and Chelsea decide if they have enough room for a 26th winger.

My biggest fear is Woolwich will take Rashford from United, and Tel will go to United.

NastyStill absolutely expect one of Woolwich, Chelsea or United to come in with the same offer and gazump us. Just way too predictable
Yeah, let us set the terms of the deal and then they can waltz in and commit a classic hijacking. We’ve all seen this film before.

Not at all, I'm also on record as saying I don't think he's going to come here. Just stating my preference not to basically train a player in this country for 6 months on our wage bill ready for an Woolwich, United or Chelsea to snap him up in June.

In that scenario we'd have no less of a chance to sign him that we do currently.

Besides; I thought your concern was that he wouldn't adapt quick enough to make a straight loan be worth it... Now your concern is that he'll be too good to keep.

So some of you think that Tel will come to us considering we might be without a manager in 10 days!!! ???

No player, and especially a young player whose next move is vital for his career is coming to us just now.

Won’t be happening.

(Yeh..... Loan with option is always the ultimate safe option.... But again; the discussion was spawned by you saying a straight loan is a no-gain, waste of money.)

I can't give you guarantees about the player (no-one can); but as per my first post... A loan without a purchase option is still worth doing..........

........Do you not think he's good enough to play Europa League?

If not; we shouldn't be spending 60m on him.
I wouldn't know, haven't watched him much and he hasn't exactly got bags of European experience, ~360 mins with 2 goals and 1 assist. He could be shit hot, he could be shit, as I've said. I really don't see it any other way than straight loan with no option does our long term future no help at all whether he succeeds or fails, because come May he'll need replacing and if he's done well enough where we want to buy him, all these clubs will be queueing up again for him. Getting some kind of option in is crucial because the only thing we have going for us in terms of getting this done is the fact its January and the other clubs probably don't want to shell out the figure touted for him.

The only way a straight loan could be worth it is if we were reasonably sure he was going to come in and drastically improve our chances of winning a trophy, or in the case of the league avoid relegation. Don't see him as much of a sure thing in that regard so if we're not tying him down for when he starts to fill out physically and become a real threat why are we helping other clubs develop players? Makes zero sense to me. At the point Odobert is fit do you keep playing Tel if he's on a straight loan? Do you want a player with no guaranteed future at your team taking minutes off players that you have on permanent deals?

I still think it will be a loan and we’ll get Dibling in. Can’t see him wanting to really leave Bayern.

Richy can’t stay fit, Solanke is out, even just to have a target man for the rest of the season then get Dibling on the wing I assume in the summer is better than nothing. We then will need to replace Richy and if Tel is only a loan with another striker.

If the window is Tel and Tomori then it’s something even if way too late.

Might not be his first choice so another club might match our offer and he chooses them, but IMO there is no way we even spend a day agreeing terms with Bayern without sounding out the players agents first.
Yeah, I'd like to think he'd choose us over Villa. But Chelsea, United and Woolwich is a different story. He might only want to join us on loan too which could then scupper things. Hard to know if he agrees to sign a 5 year deal. Its going to be a hard deal to close.

In that scenario we'd have no less of a chance to sign him that we do currently.

Besides; I thought your concern was that he wouldn't adapt quick enough to make a straight loan be worth it... Now your concern is that he'll be too good to keep.
Except the fact we have shitloads of PSR headroom vs those teams and its January which is a window clubs are notoriously wont to spend in, that's literally the only reason we have any chance of getting a player that United, Chavs, Woolwich et al are interested in.
