So much for Daniel taking a step back from the football side of the club.

To your point though, its got to be his ego driving him to get involved.
Does it matter if it gets the deal over the line?

If Tel’s team want something beyond the original parameters of the deal it can only help to have the chairman there to immediately sanction it or not.

It also indicates the desire we have to sign him if the big guns rock up.

I don’t see a downside (as long as the A level speech isn’t trotted out! 😁) .

So Van de Ven is now fit again, as is Spence. And Ange has said that the majority of our other injured players are back in 7-10 days (Vicario, Udogie, Odobert, Werner, Johnson), with Solanke a week behind them. I cannot see us buying any new players this window, maybe a CB on loan if Dragusin is crocked longer than a week or two.

EDIT: Maddison also 1 week away from fitness.

They’ll all be injured again at some point though won’t they. That’s who we are mate!

Just imagine if we sign Tel and Tomori, and all our players are fit in 2 weeks. Ange goes from one extreme problem (no players) to another (too many!). Who do you start and who sits on the bench, and who stays at home?

Funny how theres fuck all the whole month and then it goes off with 2 days to go...everytime!
In fairness, it is difficult especially with the way the new European competition formats made basically every major club in Europe uncertain of what their second half fixture situation looks like until literally the last two days. That's a new impediment.

Levy would have gotten pelters for doing Nelsen and Saha on January 1 and then closing up shop for the month. Not from me, that's what I would have done too, but if we wind up making major beneficial acquisitions here in the last few days it can all end on a happy note.

I asked in respect of your post. So for example, how do you know that Daniel Levy is not the one deciding who we will sign (as you state)?

No-one knows what the ins and out are of our recruitment team or our infrastructure but you can take a wild guess what their functions are based on the information out there and what we've read.

What you're describing is Lange's role, not Levy's - Levy will set the budget and the framework and his team will work well within that so Lange will be the one going out there and using his data recruitment technique and identifying the players, not Levy...he knows fuck all about football.
