Different era, different level but Danny Blanchflower was 28 when he joined Spurs. Won the FW player of the year aged 32 and 35. Sometimes experience is vital. ( again a different time, but a valid example )

I'm ok with it, because I don't think at £50m it's a great deal, and it also appeared to be the case that Tel wasn't all that keen on us. Which obviously has subsequently proven to be the case. That isn't a great starting point, to put it mildly. So given it's (IMO) not a good target for us, it's nice to see sweet Daniel's face plastered with egg.

At the end of the day it’s not this deal that’s the issue. We obviously loved him, he was never keen, tried to convince him, it didn’t work. Fine. It happens. It’s more the inaction of getting to this point with no reinforcements and the clock ticking.
