Be a lot tougher for them to keep this up in terms of profitability at that price-band.

When you're only paying 1-5m for bodies; you only need 1 or 2 hits in 10 and you're golden.... The 20-30m market is more like Levy-ball and the price of a few duds soon adds up.

Yeah 100%. You need to sell 20-30m players for 60 - 80m and those transfers are becoming rarer and rarer. Everyone wants to get to Brighton players before they do.

who knows but the story was they rejected the offer.

Doesn't stop him being included in a deal with Scarlett formally joining Southampton on 1 July, although not sure if tyhere is any regulations preventing that.

You could make the argument that Southamptons season is over though…

Depends on the value attributed to Dane, but he's a player who with a year of solid playing in Championship could easily be scoring quite a few goals which might give him a value of say £20m+ (Delap apparently has a buy back of £29m from ManCity) and on that basis would probably re-join PL either with Southampton or another club at a much higher valuation.

So Dibling for say £20m plus Scarlett is probably a fair(ish) deal for both Spurs and Southampton given that Dibling has only played 20 PL matches, and Scarlett has made about 18 appearances for Spurs in all competitions over the years amongst 90 appearances across all divisions (including maybe 30 starts)

Although I suspect Southampton might want say 50m for Dibling despite his limited playing time.
