Really need to buy a forward now. Mbeumo would be my preference but that's never happening. Dibling or Delap? Good long term picks so wouldn't mind them. The Bailey loan just stinks. That's just another werner situation and is a pure cop out. We should be trying to sign players who could walk into our team - not players who are just squad players. Bailey won't feature at all once brennan and odobert are back!

It's weird and hints at something else going on behind closed doors with Romero IMO.
I imagine he has just made it clear to Levy in no uncertain terms that if any offers come in for him this summer he won't be afraid to down tools to force a move. I don't think there's anything going on with his injury, he has had plenty of them playing for us to be fair it's hardly out of the ordinary. Can imagine he's got his agent flying around Europe to elite clubs sounding out potential interest.

The annoying thing about Guehi is so many clubs will be in for him in the summer. That's probably why we chanced our arm now to get the beat on our rivals.

Newcastle will be in for him in the summer. Chelsea probably too.

But you dont understand. It's a half hearted unrealistic bid structured in such a way we'd never pay it, but it's a club record half hearted unrealistic bid structured in such a way we'd never pay it.

My chairman.

💪

How the fuck do you know this?

We paid a record fee (at the time) of what? £42 mil for Davinson fucking Sanchez 8 years ago.... £70 mil (another record fee) for a prem proven England International is perfectly reasonable offer to believe we would make.

Spurs offer:

£70 million on deadline day with zero hope of replacement to derail season entirely.

That's my very best offer.
It's like me offering £1m for a townhouse in Belgravia to be paid in £5 installments.

It's not enough money, the installments are absurd, it has no chance of ever being accepted but it's the most I've ever offered on a property so everyone should applaud my ambition.

Can anyone explain to me something - there were still Disasi rumors up today and in BBC Transfer Deadline day opinion section one Spurs fan mentioned that we would need another CB. But I mean... do we really? Or in which sense do we need one?

Right now in our books we have - VDV, Romero, Dragusin, Danso, Davies and in all honesty Gray has done REALLY well as an option there. This is 5 designated CBs and one further option there.
In summer we have Vuskovic joining too. So that is 6 designated CBs. How much do we need? Plus there are depth options in Phillips (doing well in Championship) and Dorrington off to loan in Scotland.

Even if we sell Romero (which I hope and expect we do), I'd first give Danso a runout and see how he does. Having 5+1 seems pretty adequate to me. Even fullback position seems more pressing, as we have just Udogie, Porro and Spence - so 3 players to 2 places. Not to mention wingers department where we could use literally someone to take up starting spot. Or proper DM like Emerson in Atalanta?

After signing CB in prime age I feel that another CB is behind positions like fullback, winger, DM or even 2nd striker (as Richie injury record is worrying to say the least).
It’s a short term loan. Dragusin might be done for the season. VDV and Romero have played 45 minutes between them in the last two months.

It’s purely a cheap insurance play.

Ange I think has already said he see Gray really as a midfielder and that’s his future, most likely our DM and perhaps he wants him there earlier.
Not so sure now based upon yesterday's quotes

Ange Postecoglou on Archie Gray
When asked if Gray has a future at centre-back, Postecoglou said: “Who knows? You can’t lose sight of the fact he’s never played there before.

“I just think he’s a fantastic player. I’m so pleased he’s at this football club. He’s a fantastic kid as well. He just wants to learn, no task is too much for him, he tackles everything with a real kind of calmness, that belies his years.

Joao Felix is trying to force his way out of Chelsea (and frankly who can blame him?) and inevitably we are linked.

Romero would consider staying if we are actually showing ambition and signing top players. But seeing us linked with loan deals for Disasi and Bailey (2 players who can't start for teams he'd like us to be better than).

Can't blame romero at all for leaving. He's a proven winner and there's little chance of us becoming titles contenders in the next few years given the lack of investment in top players

From Trix on SC

I was just talking in general really, but the club are certainly hoping to bring more in. If pushed I'd say it'll be 2, with the hope of 3, but as it's us more likely just 1.

Glad I could clear that up for you.

So basically, we're not signing anyone else. Y'all can go do other things. :nunothumb:
"speak in general terms".

Translation: I know nothing so if I were to actually give specifics you'd all see me for the fraud I am. And that's bad business for the donations.

Let's face it, all our experience says when Madrid come calling there is not much we can do except get maximum wedge.

A proven winner at international level yes actuallystarting the games that win trophies, proven crock at club level, if we get anything above what we paid for him we should take it

I see no reason why we would be losing Davies in the summer? Easy contract extension for another season there.

I imagine he'll stay on and then maybe move into coaching or something, hopefully with our u18s.

Not seen any links we are is all. Plus there is the Leeds links. I'd be sad to lose him great servant never complains can play multiple positions don't get me wrong.

I just think if the club wanted him to stay we would have got the extension sorted by now

I think it's Real Madrid tbh. They are the only club with the resources to deal with Levy.

Poor signing him or nkunku I think. Neither are great out wide so would have to play through the middle and I wouldn't prefer either as a 9 ahead of solanke or richarlison.

They'd just be squad players who help fill in and we need to be more ambitious than that the werner signing was a mistake and we need to learn from it. Felix and Nkunku are just going to be the next werner
