Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Bloke is basically a myth at the moment. Barely shown up on the pitch this season, and hasn't really shown up off it to support the team.

62 games missed in three and a half seasons. I won't be sad to see him go - world class my arse.
I mentioned this after the Elfsborg game, when all the other injured players were pitchside.
Can't say I'll miss him if/when he goes, he hasn't exactly been playing that much.

Clearly frozen out since he publicly criticised the owners blatant lack of ambition.

Legend.

Regardless of where his head is, he'd be well advised to invest in better PR. He has nearly 2 1/2 years left on his contract, so likely not going anywhere this summer. I just don't see Levy selling at a discount after such a bad/injury affected season.

So at this point Romero should be giving interviews, especially given his leadership role in the team. Tell us he's desperate to get fit, to help the team etc. Clarify his criticism of the board if necessary. Then summer 2026, either he re-signs or gets moved on.

I don't expect any sort of special affinity, but it is sad given our history with players from Argentina, that so many of our more recent crop clearly cares way more about the national team than they do club football. Lamela and Gazzaniga seem to be the only outliers. And they were never going to be regulars in the national team given their positions (and Lamela's health).

He clearly doesn't give a shit about the club. Cancel his contract immediately. That or leave him to rot in the under 18's.

He's spent his entire Spurs career malingering in the treatment room. Good player when he can be fucked to turn up, but he never does.

I can guarantee that if he gets his move to Madrid his injury problems will mysteriously clear up overnight.

I'm honestly surprised he ever signed for us at all. I guess Conte, his Agent and some better wages convinced him?

If we can just sell him for 75-80m to RM we should do it. If everyone else can pretend Cuti is world class, surely we can sell him as such too, right?

Hard to fight for a club that clearly doesn’t give a fuck about winning anything. Sure he could be on the pitch battling away with his teammates but you can only do that for so long until you check out because the attrition is accepted.

Ehhhhh.

I’m glad he called out to board, but it doesn’t excuse the fact that he hasn’t been pitchside for any of the games.
He wants out and relatively subtle actions like this is a way to do it. Can we blame him for wanting to leave this embarrassment of a club? He's given it a shot, stood with us through tricky times but what would motivate him to stay when it's clear as day we're actually regressing even further as a club since he arrived....

That stems from the players?

Messi stated that Romero was the best defender in the world - yet to see that in a Spurs shirt.

I feel this narrative is overdone. Yes Romero, like most of his compatriots, probably sees the Argentina national team as the biggest honour, but he also surely knows that the best way to keep his place for Argentina is to get fit and perform for Spurs.

That said, he seems like quite an emotional guy, and perhaps the lack of connection with the fans does affect him.

Romero a Spurs legend? No friggin way, my man.

He called out the board, even that is a slight exaggeration. Easier to two-foot an opponent from behind like the coward he is.

Still gotta get himself fit and on that pitch, playing as hard as he can, ready to die for the cause. And when he's injured, still gotta show up and be vocal on the touchline.

A legend, my arse. Guy is a disgrace who's been robbing a living for years. Fuck him and his tough geezer act...lock him in a room with Roy or Vinnie, see how big he really is.
