Match Man City (H) – 26 Feb – 19:30 kickoff

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Those green shoots aren't going to grow if we can't keep them watered the whole 90mins.

Christ, what a shit sentence. Forget I typed it. I'm off buggering to bed.

Much better 2nd half. Man City, despite their dip in form, have world quality players all over the pitch, but we bossed that 2nd half. Shame Ange took Maddison off, but bigger picture is next week and the EL game. I thought Bentancur was our best player overall, along with Danso. Johnson was really disappointing, ditto Tel. Spence had a great cameo, and Odobert and Maddison both grew into the game. Just the thought of Romero, VdV, and Solanke coming back into this team is making me very optimistic.

Such a frustrating result.

Have you ever seen subs DE-ENERGISE a team in the way Son and Kulusevski did. Absolute dog shit when they came on.

That VAR debacle at the end too, my word what a mess. How they couldn’t tell the ref there was no handball is hilarious.

meh,
We looked impotent offensively for most of the first half and didn't convert chances we had. Down 1-0 to Man City isn't the most awful result I've seen us get.

Trying to emulate City will end in tears 9 times out of 10, you can’t beat them in their own game like the way we tried to do in the first half. They’ll make you look stupid trying to press them full length of the pitch, or to invite their press by fannying around in your own third.

There’s a reason several players, including ones like Danso whose praises we have been singing for good reasons, end up vastly out of position far too often. There’s little to no structure to our pressing. Even relegation fodders tear it apart enough times for them to create match winning chances, as evidenced by Ipswich last week. It then becomes a matter of how clinical or fortunate they are in front of the goal, because they have no problem getting there. We keep riding our luck in that regard, but it still wasn't enough to get something from this match.

Scoreline flattered us once again by the way, make no mistake about it. Barring that 15 minute stretch from 55th to 70th we were never in it. And that’s despite the fact that several players played well in my opinion, such as Vicario, Bentancur, Danso, Bergvall and Odobert. So it’s not for lack of trying or ability on players’ part.

I dread to think what will happen if we run into a team in EL that’ll take their chances at a reasonable rate.
