Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Considering previous to him we were dished up Eric Dier , Japhet Tanganga , Clement Lenglet and Davinson Sanchez - I thought he was great improvement .
He was. Then his form and apparent intrest disappeared. He's become a liability with 10 months poor form behind him. As @Airfix says there's no point in not acknowledging the truth. Two things can be true. If the rarely seen Conte era Year one Romero can return we'd ALL welcome him. I've just stopped believing he is coming back. Have you seen the cuck meme on social media with Romero Spurs and Argentina it's brutally accurate.

Romero has only made individual errors this season IMO.

Last year he had availability issues but he played to a genuinely elite level the whole season. I think he set a record for games without even giving away a foul but still topping the league for almost every metric you want from a CB.

Not seen it no

I've been saying for months on other platforms that as soon as Real Madrid came sniffing around - Romero's been their player ever since . I think he's driving down his value so RM can afford him . The ball watching , the brain farts - it's all been downhill since Levy quoted RM £150mil for him .

Considering 80% of our goals conceded have come down the right hand side of the pitch - that puts a portion of blame on both Porro and Romero surely

I'm not pro Romero far from it - I also think he's a liability no questions . Since Real Madrid came sniffing around he's been very poor . I think he's trying to engineer a move to Real Madrid by driving down his value so they can afford him .

We paid forty two million for him, put's that fee for Johnson in some perspective, no.

If we decided to sell, we would get that back and some.

In todays market at just twenty six I'd expect we'd get at least seventy million for a World Cup winning perennial Argentinian International defender.
We would get £70-80mil for him , but it shouldn't of had to come to that . When Real Madrid came sniffing around Levy quoted them £150mil , RM backed off and went away . It's not rocket science - since then he isn't the same player . He's a highly decorated player , a winner of the World Cup and Copa America , but to see him play/or not play since - it's an insult to our club - his ball watching and brain farts - the guy simply isn't interested in playing for us anymore is he . You don't lose that high quality . Form is temporary , Class is permanent .

Driving his value down is one thing.
Convincing RM that he is shit on purpose, is another.

It feels like Romero doesn't really care too much what happens at Spurs as long as he's getting called up for Argentina and getting paid. RM and Romero both know on his day he is an absolute top defender- in his last big public statement he seemed to pretty clearly call out the board and Levy, but it also doesn't feel like he's all that into Ange-ball either.

I'm as skeptical as anyone else as to his true motivations- that's why I say- let him play some ball and show us either way.

Don’t know about 70M. Not many will shell that out for a centre half with his questionable availability.

Hold out for 75-80m as long as you can, and settle as low as 60m. For 60m Atletico Madrid, Barca, PSG, Bayern and some slightly less prestigious clubs will be interested too. That alone should get RM to bid a bit higher.

Less than 60m and we may as well just keep him another season- that's average going rate for a top CB.

If VDV breaks down again, then he needs to be the first out of the door, Romero has been unlucky with injuries, was brought back with VDV way too early and now the fuckwit managing the team is shit scared to start either.

I don't know who we would bring in should we sell Cuti, but the caliber of player we'd attract to a team struggling outside the top ten, with a forever injured squad ain't going to be anywhere near as good as Romero.

Fans are quick to judge, most knowing fuck all about the circumstances, and they put a fantasy list of players Lange should just go get.

He isn't getting sold to anyone for that sort of money.

Levy wouldn't pick his phone up on a bid for less than 80mil.

Him running his contract down is the elephant in the room here, even more so if many of us are right that he's indifferent towards this club at best. I'd move him this summer based on the contract situation alone, no need to risk going through what we went through with Kane all over again next summer.

We would be selling low, relatively speaking, but then he is who he is at this point. A soon to be 27 yr old who has the availability of a player in his mid 30s.

I get the distinct impression that if he moves to RM (no idea if they are skint or not but Romero holds the cards so maybe a player swap type nonsense deal again) he'll make himself much more available than he has done for us.

Spurs seem to tolerate malingering. Weak leadership and lack of quality depth. Similar at ManUre.

I assume we'll get a new manager in this summer and if he wants a part time serviceable defender then that's good enough for me. I couldn't care less about his wages or him running his contract down. The club can afford it.
