Got to be honest here, I still liked what I saw tactically and team selection wise over Southgate.

And I like what Tuchel is saying here. No over positive waffle from a performance that still has plenty of room to improve.

I’m encouraged by Tuchel’s start after the horror show of the squad he picked.

Get Wharton and MGW in your team and the ball will reach wingers earlier Thomas. You’ll get ball carrying as well

If you're playing everyone in their best position then ultimately Bellingham, Palmer, Foden and Rogers are all fighting for one position, the number 10 role. Nice problem for Tuchel to have but there's going to be some very wounded ego's on the bench.

Also, like I said above, I liked what Tuchel said and found the start more exciting already than Southgate... BUT if he wanted his wide players to dribble and run with the ball more, why didn't he take Hudson-Odoi? or Gittens from Dortmund?

Rashford is a player you want making runs in behind when you have Kane dropping deep but it was Bellingham making those runs. Rashford is not really a 1v1 dribble winger. Neither is Foden.

Don't think Gittens will be seriously considered until he's playing in the Premier League. Hudson-Odoi is a player he knows well but I'm pretty sure he used him as a wing-back for Chelsea.

Foden has been off form this season, and was meh for England yesterday and most of the time in his previous few matches.

If he doesn't improve next season he should be dropped from the squad.
Not a truer word said - he needs to buck up or fukk off.

I don't rate him at all - I did but it seems da fire in de eyez are gone guys

We’ve been really struggling for keepers as usual. Pickford being by far your best senior option isn’t great.

I wonder why goalkeeper is such a problem position in this country.

I think Pickford has generally been really good for England, albeit he's not what you would consider a top keeper. If you could take the best bits of Pope and Pickford and morph them together you would have that. Hopefully Trafford can be that guy down the line.

He's a Pep system player. When he first arrived on the scene he used to beat players for fun. The flair has been coached out of him by Guardiola, as it also has with Grealish. Now they both always look for the safe option first just to retain the ball. Sad to see really as Foden, talent wise, should be a player we built a team around.

Like I said, Palmer has to do what he's been doing for longer. Foden last season was considered by many to be among the best players in the world. A poor 6 months and suddenly he was never really that good. That's how fickle football fans can be.

Blame Gary if you see fit; but for the most part, Foden hasn't replicated his MC performances for England.

Out of possession he is brilliant. Almost like a Kante. But on the ball he is bang average and offers very little creativity or directness.

I think its no coincidence that Woolwich have become a much more defensive team with a lack of creativity since they've signed him. He has added an extra level of defensive cover and control to them, but he has taken away most the flair and creativity they had in the 22/23 season.

He [Rice] had an equivalent impact on England during the Euros too.

By no means our worst player but our most problematic.
