QQ - why are we at home in the first leg, when the draw was predetermined and we finished above them on the league table, surely that should have been an advantage, and the team with the higher finish play at home in the second leg?![]()
We beat 3 more pub sides in our league cup run. Liverpool at home, MC & MU.Only one of those that isn't a pub side and we drew
20 defeats this season milesy
Suck on that and ask Ange what the hell is going on when you interview him tomorrow
Would make a nice change from routinely kissing his bottom at every opportunity

The event which has dominated Spurs timeline for a while is finally upon us when the Eagles from Frankfurt fly in for the first leg of the UEFA QF.
The various cup runs of this terrible season have been a lifeline, and Spurs at least arrive on the back of a home win, doubling the total of the 10 home games in the last 'half season' of games going back to Fulham at home with an overall record of 5-3-11.
'Die Adler' arrive here in much better for, sitting a respectable 3rd to the Harry Kane show in the Bundesliga, having put away Ajax home and away in previous round. It was obviously going to get tougher for Spurs as the competition progressed and looks a big ask in our current form
Fellow coffin dodgers will remember a memorable tie with what was Eintract Frankfurt in the spring of 1982. Micky Hazard scored a brilliant late goal to give Spurs a 2-0 lead in a tight game where the European nights featured proper clashes of footballing culture with predominately home based players and regional tactical set ups. The second leg a few days after defeat to Liverpool in the League cup final was very Spursy, giving away the 2-0 lead in the first few minutes before the great Glenn Hoddle got a late goal to see us through when all the drama was conveyed by capital gold radio. I seem to remember they had the memorably named Bum Kum Cha, the first Korean player to grace WHL, and it was our very own Korean legend who scored twice in a 3-2 win in the CL in 2022 where both teams eventually progressed from the group.
In both years the aggregate has been 3-2 and once again it looks similarly close this year, as long as Spurs can up their game from the league performances, otherwise it may look rather ugly.
Looking at the bookies odds as probabilities, Spurs have a 52.6% chance of a win vs a 23.7% chance of either a draw or a Frankfurt win ... that's certainly not how I see a side who have found a way to lose to all but the very worst sides and have provided Leicester's only goals (let alone points) in their last 8 matches ... but then again we can all get a little wrapped up in our own club so perhaps that is a light in the fog that all is not lost.
Spurs should have a full team or at least be able to put out a strong team. One of our greatest shot stopping keepers (who gets plenty of practice in this set up) at the back - VdV and Romero are CL class and perm Spence/Porro/Udogie out wide and you'd like to think players of this ability could be organized to be effective. Although no Kane, Solanke has made a solid start in the overall play and Spurs have plenty of options for the two wide of him and the three behind. You kinda have to play Son as he's such a great player/legend but he would be much better suited to a role suited to him rather than a system. Johnson gets a lot of stick but his pace and moments of class, such as the touch for the second goal at the weekend would give him the edge for me. Bergvall, Gray and perhaps Sarr behind .. with Maddison, Tel and Oddbert from the bench to liven things up if required.
But its not really about which players, its about how they line up, how they are motivated and what they are expected to do. No amount of perfect team sheets can get beyond flawed tactics or demoralizing Sisyphean tasks with no reward
I don't think the tie can be won at WHL but Spurs need to take something to Frankfurt, either a draw or some sort of win. My worry is a well disciplined team just taking Spurs apart and going 3-0 up in 15 minutes as the obvious flaws are exposed and it all being over very quicky.
Unless this really is the new era of the Cup Kings where indifferent form in the league is magically transformed into beat anyone in the cups, I cant see Spurs getting through over the two legs.
That said, I want with all my heart for Spurs to magically rise again bringing another Glory Glory night under the lights at WHL. This is not a time for egos or nor is it about players, managers, fans or chairman or anything at this stage, its about THFC, about glory and hopefully the first shoots of a beautiful flowering cup run will emerge from the overall dungheap of a season
Caaaaaaahm on yooooooooooooo Spurs!
It's home firstThis is the sort of tie you would relish having a more defensively competent coach for, with the domestic form Frankfurt are in and the extra day of rest we should really just be trying to keep ourselves in the tie in the away leg, unfortunately I think playing away first really goes against us as Frankfurt bringing any kind of lead to us is terrifying, the way we have been utterly nullified by much less competent teams all season who simply wanted to not concede against us, does not bode well. I think realistically we need to avoid losing this one or we are out, if Frankfurt can come to us and play on the break we probably won't score in a month of sundays against them.
