Looks like a player that would be decent backup for a main guy at the moment.

Some truth in that, but you can't blame the wingers for his lost duels and falls to the ground
na you cant, but hes had his morale battered all year. hes seriously low on confidence. no striker would look good and be happy and thriving in this setup and with what is 'meant' to be giving him service.
With that price tag of his, signing an even better -and correspondingly expensive- player for his position would be an admission of huge failure on Levy's part. For that reason alone I don't see him getting replaced for the next season or two.
He's in this grey area between being a clear backup in the mold of someone like Llorente and being the player that his price tag actually warrants. I can see him becoming a more and more polarizing figure here as time goes on.

At a club our size, that may be the extent of it.
If he were coming on as sub, I bet he would be brilliant.
You spend £65 million and you expect a player to come in and make an impact. He really hasn't done that. Yes the system, or lack of doesn't suit him. But he's just not been good enough or shown much quality imo.

Selling Harry Kane and replacing him with Solanke is akin to Man City selling Haaland and replacing him with Danny Ings
Should be looking for players at least as good as Keane or Defoe, even if a Kane level player is impossible.
I've kept quiet on Solanke until now, hoping he'll start to score goals. Sadly, it's not happening and in my mind he is now just another in the long line of failures in that position. We need a goal scorer - 20+ per season. He never seems to be in quite the right place, does he? - you know, the place where Porro scored from tonight.

Guy gets zero service and plays in a team where our 2 main wide players are 'shoot first' wingers'. It's so obvious he will make people choke on their words when we eventually get rid of this helmet manager.
Based on what? He had a very good season last year but it's looking like a purple patch/everything went right for him. He's been a very good championship striker before that. I don't see anything 'so obvious' about him all of a sudden becoming clinical. I've seen him miss a fair few sitters for us already.
I like the guy, but I think he's a back up for a club with champions league ambitions. Certainly not worth £65m.
