The same Frankfurt goalie who tore his ACL the day after playing us?Shame Bijlow at Feyenoord suffered a bad injury or he would have been perfect. The Frankfurt goalie still seems a very good option
This is true.To be fair to Vicario, isn't he up there in terms of stopping goals v expected goals conceded (or something along those lines)?
I.e. he's basically put in the firing line constantly because of our suicideball. Another victim of the system, and between him and young Kinsky I think we can put aside any goalkeeper search for this summer.
Unlike say Vicario or Kinsky?
Last night's second, whatever happened our defenders, the goalkeeper never got within 18 inches of the height of the cross which made it easy for Wood. This is true.
Vicario has his own set of lowlights. But a fair few of them stem from how we play.
Take Forest's second goal last night. Vic has to rush out to try and get the ball because Romero started ball watching and stopped following Wood, who moved into open space.
Vic isn't flawless. But some of his errors are literally forced upon him.
I agree. I like Vic. He's passionate and a superb shot stopper. Good distribution (needs to go long a bit more though), and getting better with crosses. He's in the top 10 keepers in the PL and good enough. Our problems lie elsewhere.People are crazy. Vic has been really good for us. Today he made a slight mistake but there was a big deflection changing the height of the ball. Ball was spinning and he didn't quite get it right. But wtf, going on like he's a terrible goalie because he doesn't save a largely deflected shot. Madness.
Then look at the half-wit Romero and the mistakes he makes. He's supposedly the world best CB because Messi said so. Vicario is miles better than Romero. There are not many better keepers, but you'll find better defenders than Romero in the championship.

I would say only Romero (on form) is in the world class conversation ability-wise. His inconsistency more or less removes him from that debate however. He's not the style of keeper I like..I think in all honesty so much that's wrong stems from the coaching that I find it hard to assess the individuals. I will say that the fans club and it's reporters (Gold, Pitt-Brooke) seriously over estimate the players. Honestly I don't think we have one world class player on our books. Not one. We have a handful of decent pros. Vicario isn't the kind of character I'd want for number one long term and if good money came in fom inter, I'd take it.
And that's totally damning
Romero is not really a defender but I suppose he just wasn't good enough to play further up and tried to compensate by being a skillful defender. I think his defensive abilities overall are really mediocre. He tries to put on a show with spectacular tackles and reckless challenges, but a good defender don't need to do that. And I imagine his inconsistency comes from not being a real defender and able to read the game.I would say only Romero (on form) is in the world class conversation ability-wise. His inconsistency more or less removes him from that debate however.
Other than that, I agree. We've got used to having at least one world class player in the team for a long time now dating back to Berbatov probably. Sad to see us properly languishing in mid to lower table mediocrity with the likes of Johnson and Richarlison now.
Yeah, a poor game from him but it happens to all keepers once in a while. I don't think we've seen too many howlers from him. when was the last one before the forest game?1. Yes there was a deflection but a top keeper saves that
2. You are conveniently ignoring him in no man's land for the second goal
3. Wolves?
The guy is erratic and clearly has errors in him. He is shit with the ball. He is a great shot stopper generally.
Definitely room for improvement. Hopefully Kinksy can develop.
Errrrr the Premier League game the previous week at Wolves? Where he was so catastrophically bad he should have been dropped.I don't think we've seen too many howlers from him. when was the last one before the forest game?
