Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think our first team is actually quiet strong and good enough to compete but the problem is once we are missing 4/5 starters then we completely drop off. We need good quality squad depth. The only position where I'd insist on us improving would be central midfield.

An ideal Summer window for me would be the below. I don't think its realistic as we'd probably have to spend around 300m and would be lucky to recoup much more than 50m on sales. Don't think Levy has a net spend of 250m in him! But this is what would make us properly challenge on all fronts next year!

Out:
Bissouma
Richarlison
Werner
Davies
Dragusin

In:
Wharton
Cherki/Eze/Delap
Ait Nouri
Guehi
Tel

That would leave proper squad depth where the 5 players we sign would mean that the likes of Romero, VDV, Udogie, Bentancur, Maddison and Solanke would not be badly missed if they were to be injured for a while.

I'm not even going to start making the starting team because thats not how big clubs work. You need 16/17 players who are all good enough to be starters so that you can rotate in and out 3/4 players for each CL/EPL game without weakening the team. This is what has killed us all season! We were down to a back 4 of Gray Dragusin Davies Spence when rotating during the injury crisis.

We arent getting Wharton, hes linked with the likes of Real Madrid. Plus palace are awful to deal with and never sell cheap. Eze is linked to city and Woolwich... Guehi to Chelsea, Liverpool etc we arent getting those players.

Id stay well away from Sesko and Gyokeres just because of the amount of interest from other clubs and especially in Gyokeres case the fee being banded about is over 90 million
But it did make me think about paratici's imminent return to Spurs and something i read the other week about a cut price deal on Dusan Vlahovic he would be able to broker a great deal with a club he has amazing connections with plus we all know the Spurs hierarchy like him alot.
Great striker with impressive stats to match if we could get him anywhere south of 40-50 million then i think that would be cracking business
Big players require big fees. If everyone else is after them, it's because they are widely seen as excellent players.

This could be controversial but I dont really see Splanke as good enough to lead title challenge. Which is what our aim should be every year.

I agree we need a midfielder. But we need to get a first choice striker too, and a goalscoring winger to replace Son.

Only if we stop trying to make him a 6 and concentrate on making him a box to box No 8 type.

Still think there is a 6 in there myself. Agree he’s probably better in a double pivot at least until he gets his confidence up but eventually that understanding he has of all 4 positions in the back 4 will set him up perfectly to be a 6. So much of his ability we haven’t seen yet.

Maybe I’m wrong and he’s really a b2b type but I still think 6.

How does he kick on exactly? give me a scenario where this happens if we sign one or two more CMs?

If we say for instance sign Palinha and Cardoso then how is that possible?

We play CL next season so will need way more depth in MF,

There is no chance we sign x2 experienced CMs. We will sign a Palinha OR a Cardoso but not both. Unless Biss or Bentancur leave.

Gray will get his chances and rotating into more settled sides instead of full on back up 11’s, he will thrive with a better team around him.

Has he ever started in MF with Romero and VDV?

Not just Solanke though, we don't have a squad anyhwere good enough to challenge for the league and most likely never will until our board pull their finger out.

Our ceiling is challenging the top 4 which Solanke is good enough to lead the team in.

OK, I'm a bit euphoric, but...

In: Grealish, De Bruyne, Gomes, Cardoso, KWP plus Solomon, Vuscovic and Devine
Out: Forster, Whiteman, Werner, Reguillon, Bissouma and Robson.

Gyokeres has a release clause for 65m

Have you not watched city this year? Why do you think its a good idea to hand over 500k a week to Grealish and De Bruyne? what hunger do you think they have left?

We need to look at Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Portugal for talent.

Maybe later in his career when he has a wealth of experience, but I don’t see him as a pure destroyer type or a a deep lying playmaker type, taking the ball on the half-turn and passing at angles. He’s a straight line kinda player, with good vision passing infront of him, and a good engine to get up and down the pitch. I see him more like a young Jordan Henderson or Milner type.

It’s weird because at Spurs he definitely hasn’t shown us the ability to play on the h/t ans break pressure. Or shown us his passing range.

Those were the things that impressed me the most at Leeds. That’s why I’m saying with some confidence and a more settled team around him, next season he kicks on.

I think this assumption is completely incorrect, sorry.

We practically had a first team at Anfield and got thumped.

The front 3 in particular is bang average. So is the midfield 3.

The only thing we have that is CL quality is the back line.

Why would you say my statement is incorrect and then say something that is totally incorrect? Odd behaviour.

None of Pedro Porro, Romero or VDV played in that game so we were missing 3 of our starting back 4. Archie Gray also played his first game in the 6 that day ahead of Bentancur who played no minutes.

We had nowhere near our best team out that day and had a Europa league semi final 4 days later.

If anything, that Liverpool game proves my point. When we went to make a few changes before a big European semi final, we were down to Ben Davies, Djed Spence and Archie Gray. All massive drop offs compared to our first 11. Now imagine it was Guehi, Ait Nouri and Wharton instead?
