Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If Son stays he will need to know he is a bench player now, his body is clearly in decline sadly.
I think the evidence has been loud and clear enough to see this season for that to happen now, last season he had a very strong start (along with the rest of the team) and had injury issues which left question marks over whether it was just poor form or relative decline, I think we've clearly seen now he has lost that explosiveness that made him so dangerous as a wide player and it's hard to find another role for him to play since he doesn't really excel at anything else, however as a figurehead and dressing room personality you will find it harder to come by a better man than Sonny.

Well yeah, genuine top class players with ambitions to win the biggest titles will not go there if they have offers from better clubs.

But if the choice is between joining Tottenham for £90k a week or joining United for £200k a week, almost every player is choosing United.

Obviously lol but we don't know what his demands are or what they or us are willing to go to.

I'm just saying that it's not as cut and dry merely saying offering more wages is what pushes a player over the edge for the only deciding factor or signing for a club.

When I look at our main squad.

Vicario, Kinsky, Porro, Spence, VDV, Romero, Dragusin, Danso, Udogie, Bentancur, Sarr, Bissouma, Bergvall, Gray, Maddison, Kulusevski, Solanke, Odobert, Richy, Son, Moore, Tel.

Its mostly ok, I think Ange has massively underperformed with it in the league. What is lacking is Kane, Bale, Modric, Ginola, Gazza, that extra bit of quality that is so game changing. We'd be better buying 3 elite players (DM, Wide forward, striker) and making no other signings. we have a 6/10, 7/10 across the board squad but no players who can consistently elevate.

Eketeke, Mbuemo and a top DM and we'd be laughing. make no other signings even if we sell Romero, just put the house on quality. The issue is we'd rather sign 6-7 ok players than 2-3 elite ones.

It comes down to money 99 times out of a 100. Football players are money orientated. In fact humans are money orientated. If someone offers you double,50% more,25% more wages a week you aren’t turning it down. We are not on the same planet as Utd,Woolwich, pool, city and Chelsea wages wise so any player that they want and we want they will not choose us. Until that changes we will always be what we are and never win a league title.

We are going to look so weak if United after the shambles get Chuna and Mbeumo and we are left scratching our arse. If you stay still you go backwards.
Tottenham are still stuck in the old fashioned mindset, that the window doesn't hot up until mid July.. But the truth is that nowadays, if you're caught snoozing the week after the season ends, you lose out because rivals are motoring ahead with plans for next season. That's why we need some internal clarification on who the manager is going to be as quickly as is possible.

You're missing my point, nvm

Need to be ruthless with the outs so we can manage our available squad places

Davies, Son, Richarlison, Tel, Sarr, Bissouma, Reguilon, Gill, Solomon, Werner, Scarlett, Whiteman, Forster, Veliz all out.

1. Keep Romero
2. Need a like for like rotation/backup for VdV.
- One of Guehi, Murillo, O. Solet, P. Hincapie, G. Scalvini

3. Backup/Rotation for Udogie/Porro
- Either R. Ait-Nouri or Vanderson . Spence covers the other

4. Defensive midfielder
- Any of E. Palacios, J. Cardoso, A. Santos, H.Larsson, A. Stiller, Ederson

5 Experienced midfielder
-Any of L. Modric, S. Lobotka, J. Kimmich, L. Goretzka

6. Creative midfielder
- Any of E. Eze, N. Paz, M. Gibbs-White, X. Simons, A. Gomes, M. Akliouche

7. Striker to compete with Solanke
- Any of N. Woltemade, J.David, B. Sesko, E. Guissand, M. Retegui, D. Vlahovic, L.Delap

8. A winger that can hold the ball and take players on.
- Any of M. Akliouche, R. Cherki, A. Semenyo, B. Mbuemo

It won’t happen with our owners, but that’s the type of transfer window that’s needed.

Richralison, Solanke, Odobert , Johnson, Son, Kulu and Tel.n Seven attacking players - Kulu is the only one that is top grade or close to. Son obviously was - and could be perhaps.
That is a terrible position to be in - and not one that is sustainable . Odobert and Tel have potential - based on their age not what they have shown this season.

Realistically to have a real chance of PL success - we should be only keeping three of the above: and looking for another thee to come in. Richi will likely go , Tel may stay or go. So we will be saddled with a relativity poor bunch of attacking players
And might only have space for one or possibly two additions.
It's a problem for whomever the manager is

You haven't mentioned Johnson in your list. I don't know if that's intentional or not.

For better or worse, I feel that we have a special bond with these players now. They've won us a trophy. I don't want any of them to go, I want them to get better and win us more trophies.

I want us to sign players that will enhance the squad and get more out of our existing players. That special blend of quality and experience that will make us perform better week-in, week-out. I think Bergvall and VDV are growing into the type of top level players that you described.

100% - Look at what's happening -

Liverpool - Done Frimpong - Reportedly close on Wirtz and Kerkez

ManU - Done Cunha - Closing in on Mbeumo - Chasing Delap

Woolwich - Reportedly wrapped up Zubimendi - Chasing a No. 9

Meanwhile at N17 ...

the forward situation is odd.

We have to old

Son

We have ok but could be improved

Richy
Solanke
Johnson

We have to young to know

Odobert
Tel
Moore
Yang
Scarlett
Lankshear

The short solution is to concentrate on buying one elite forward while moving Son out then allowing the younger players to grow to see which ones can step up and which can’t.

98 times out of a 100. Oh right.

So easy..

I would rather see us buy 1 or 2 quality players this summer rather than trying to rebuild it all at once.

I reckon Wharton would be close to £100m, that’s where my money would go, funded by Gil, Veliz, Solomon, Davies plus CL cash.

I would try to keep other players and just keep trying to bring in 1-2 top quality players each summer
instead of 2 decent players , I want 1 good player. That should be the thinking. Improve the first 11.
