Management Thomas Frank

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If he does what Howe did last year, he'd keep his job. If he does what Howe did last year, he'd likely get sacked.

I don't know why people act like its mysterious or debatable. 5th is considered the minimum acceptable performance.

Every manager who has achieved that has come back the next season.

Every manager who has been on track to fail that objective (or has failed it in Ange's case) has been sacked.

That doesn't mean 5th is the goal, merely that its the bare minimum.

It means that it’s the priority

If we finished 6th, 7th or even 8th this season alongside the EL win Ange would still be in a job.

No it doesn't, it means doing less than that is failing to meet minimum expectations and worthy of sacking. Your "priority" ≠ "minimum acceptable performance"

If I'm a few days late on a deliverable, I'm probably not getting sacked but I'll get a talking to, my bonus might disappear, and I might be asked to provide an action plan on what went wrong and how Im going to do better on the next one. If I'm weeks late on a deliverable, I'm probably going to get sacked because I've significantly failed to meet minimum expectations.

I'm really not sure why people act like professional football is different than any other professional endeavor. The money is bigger, and its entertainment so there's people watching, but at its nuts and bolts its not very different.

The goals are certainly to win trophies and qualify for the best competitions (CL). Finishing 5th is underperforming but not to such a degree as to arise to a sacking. Below that - clearly considered a sackable offence across the whole of Levy's tenure.

Who's the last guy to get sack for 6th?

(Temp. managers aside)

You can say that, but its speculation and aside from Ramos' LC there's not a data point that supports it. And Ramos hadn't managed that full season, taking over from Jol who was sacked because we were clearly off target in the league.

No manager under Levy since Hoddle has completed a full season in which we finished below 5th and been the manager the following season.

History makes it very clear that finishing 5th in the league is the minimum acceptable performance for a manager under Levy's chairmanship.

A lot of it was genuine leaks though. Pretty sure that SC was the one where Joshua Levy was posting on it, and at one point there were others who were related. There is a certain amount where stuff will leak. I mean BushHillSpurs BushHillSpurs is Harry Kane's wife's (Katie) cousin, so I suspect his aunt/uncle would know well in advance about Germany. I say this having had interactions in a job, must have been 10 years ago, that I shared on here. Not at all the case since then, but just saying that you could be working or visiting somewhere where you see Frank enter a conference room with Lange and Paratici, for example.

Now that isn't the same as some of the caricatures that have persisted and end up doing Septic Peg impressions regularly. There are some people who had connections. I've been reading but not posting on there for years so not full familiar but wasn't it greyfox and rebrav (?) who were well connected and then stepped back when they lost their info. Not the same as like 'dragon1' or 'trix' or 'hercules' or 'gards' or some of the other COYS guys who seem to like the reverence. Don't get me start on twitter.

I think a lot of the "ITK" factor of SC and COYS dried out through the club fixing the leaks. It's absolutely no surprise to me that it was peak during the Redknapp days, as I bet he would be getting petrol on the services telling random people who he fancied signing, or who was in for a medical on a given day.

I think the best itk and most truthful are the happenstance ones. Eg. The guy who met commolli and he told him about zokora which was posted on coys all those years ago. There were a few by a guy who’s parent worked at the hospital where we used to do our MRI. Quite a few. I’ve heard a couple of things through work, but I’d never share them (even though one is very juicy) because I don’t want to get people in trouble. The bullshit artists are the ones who post info regularly for years. Like you say, it dries up when people leave the club, that’s only natural.

You say that but we've also sacked managers who's last full season was 4th..........

For the most part it's a matter of form and trajectory (and sometimes conflict).

That is essentially what I did. It's a bit like a canary test; if something leaks, there's usually a very small number of sources for the leak, and unbeknown to me at the time, the implications can be enormous for the sake of a bit of gossip that most people sneer at anyway. There was a user who now and again posted on SC. He/she was in asia as part of the social media team or something, because they got everything spot on when it was stuff within 24 hours of being done. They disappeared, so assume they got sacked.
