I'm still having random people coming up to me in the street saying "European champs!" when they see my Spurs shirt (s).

......I've barely worn anything else since that night. 🥳
...and they walk away from you saying, "Fucking hell, did you smell the state of that bloke? Probably hasn't changed his shirt in weeks."

ange ball really did no favors for biss, bentancour and sarr and i think a coach who can get them to build their game around what they each do best and another defensive minded cm in the wanyama mode to support them will really help them flourish
I can't say I ever saw Ange-ball after our 4-1 home defeat to the Chavs in his first season, when we had the 2 reds and the long-term injuries. After that great start and bad defeat, I honestly can't recall any consistent pattern of entertaining football, aside from one miraculous game here and there. It felt more random than a brand of football.

Ange ball was real. Only it disappeared when Chris Davies started taking a step back ever since he started getting offers from Jan 2024 onwards

In all honesty, we have not really played with inverted fullbacks 'properly' since he left. In 2024/25, we played a water down version of it. Porro & Udogie used to be so much involved in build up phase so much in Ange first 6-8 months. But after that, we dont have a buildup phase.

I don't think it was real.

Just some concocted bo!!ocks as I saw it, and sh!t at that.

The Ange era was so dire and the demands on the players so unreasonable that I'm not sure there's anyone who we got the best out of, even when healthy.

I think everyone should get a fair chance under the new regime to prove themselves and to see what Frank can get out of them. Players like Biss and Sarr, Udogie, Spence and more have a ceiling they would never have reached under Ange. I am looking forward to seeing what a proper manager and system can get out of them.
Did those players really like playing under him, if so they're as bad as Levy cultists.
Happy to constantly screw up their performances due to bad decision making, and walking away with the money.

Frank's CM do what Bissouma does but more importantly... he likes to have mid to long distance passing midfielders in his lineup; Bissouma does not have a long passing game. So, I cant see him under Frank
i see him more as a dembele type even if that means he has shortcomings too. he's very good at feeling space and turning into it and carrying the ball forward. makes defenses uncomfortable when he's pushing forward with the ball at his feet. he's athletic and instinctual and on his day he's a handful, however he doesn't play at high level week to week and hopefully the right coach and system can get the best out of him more consistently. i think he's a good guy too and wants to do well. i think that about a lot of our squad

i don't think ange ball was that entertaining at its best. the inverted fullbacks up where the ten should be never really produced for us and we constantly got ripped to shreds in the space they left behind. even after we parked the bus it was just a war of attrition with the midfielders. no system or plan, just guys digging in and playing their asses off.

i disagree unless you count the cdm role dropping back into defense as 3 atb. rose and walker got forward very effectively but i think the assists were coming from the midfielders. but we did play a pure 3 cb's formation at times that was very good
How can you disagree with
Lloris
Toby Dier Jan
Walker Wanyama Dembele Rose
Eriksen Dele
Kane

Basically Poch’s best side. Who knows what could’ve happened if Rose didn’t do his knee halfway through the season.

i preferred wanyama and dier not playing at the same time and bringing on another attacker. i think we were at our best with 4231 and the defensive mid would drop into defense when the fb's got forward. it's kinda horses for courses tho

I'm 40 now so I'm well and truly into the weird nostalgia phase of life. I've collected pretty much every games console I use to have, but I get real pangs about all my football cards and mini figures I had as a kid.

Somewhere in the last 7-10 years ago - I think it might have been Euro 2016 - I picked up a sticker book from Sainsburys to get back into that, and noticed on the back page it basically allowed you to buy the stickers individually by post. I was outraged until I realised you could always do that. Felt like one of those moments at the end of a film where the main character realised that the killer was someone close to them/they were dead the whole time/the other person didn't exist. All those days doing got/got/need taking a block of Justin Edinburgh, Neilsens, and Clemences to school, when all you actually needed was a few quid and a stamp
:klinsmann:
Part of the fun was taking those stickers to school for "swapsies" with the other kids.

The fact that I was 32 at the time didn't seem to matter...
