Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

His pace seems to have gone. There was a few times last season when he got the ball on the break and, in the old days, that meant he was away and in on the keeper. He's still decently pacey but that rocket fuel has been replaced by unleaded.

Maybe a mixture of that and loss of confidence?

Or maybe playing him out on the left doesn’t suit him at this stage of his career?

Hopefully Frank can get him playing again as he used to

I think it would be mad to try and flog Sonny until at least January.
If he’s not pulling up trees for frank by then we should consider it.
I personally think he was probably tired and along with anges lack of tactical nous he wasn’t being used to his strengths this is something frank will be different with.

I think Ange and Son made it clear that he was playing injury throughout the season. Why does everyone keep forgetting that...

Yep, and he had all that shit going on in his personal life with the attempted blackmail.
He’s definitely not at his peak any more, but I think he still has something to offer.

Sonny, our (once) world class legend. Taking emotion out of it, anything over 60m+ to Saudi and it's good business for an ailing 33 year old. However, anything below 35m and we should keep him and allow him to go on a free at the end of 25/26 imo.

I think the value he brings to the club, dressing room out weighs the figure of 30-40m

If he wants to go play in Saudi just let him and take whatever fee they offer, no?

Agree - Sonny for me is and will always be 10/10 last season was a shitter but as I've said I don't think I can blame him for that 100% without knowledge behind the scenes like when he got a hernia & he dropped that bomb I was like WTF!!!

He can leave head held high, smiling :)

I hear that and ultimately it will be Sonny's choice, but I think the value in keeping him with us for Franks first season, could potentially be more beneficial than the 30m+ transfer fee and 10m wages saved or channelled elsewhere imo.
I guess his choice will depend on how often he expects to play, and what the club can offer him regarding that. I doubt he really needs any Saudi money, he strikes me as the sort of bloke who's been careful with his money, and has a good bit tucked away. Maybe he'll just want to go back to Korea to play there at some point, and be near his family.

Also, I don't think people realise the amount of income Sonny still generates via ticket and merchandise sales. I doubt that he'll go to Saudi.
I think that if he is happy with being a 'supersub' rather than a guaranteed starter and he gives up the captaincy, then I can see him being a useful squad member, a mentor to the younger players and a support for Thomas, whilst he's getting to know the place.
I'm actually going to Seoul next week and I'm really interested to see what sort of presence Sonny has in the city (expecting the level of Ronaldo in Madeira).

A big boost for Frank as well. Our influential star man kind of rubber stamping TF's appointment by staying around.

Too shite to get a new contract from Levy so he now either runs down his contract and play in Saudi Arabia on a free transfer next summer or he transfers there this summer and get us some money back.

Quite telling only Saudi club is showing concrete interest.

You’ve been told already, stfu. Stop speaking about a legend in that way.

He’s more Spurs than you will ever be.

Cunt.

"Some money back " ?

Do you know what we paid for Sonny ? 22 mil pound. Do you have any idea how much revenue he has generated over a decade of service for ENIC ?

When players were golfing with Neville, he stood firm. He is truly a club legend and deserves to go out as one.

He has been inspirational.

Gooner Alert!!
No true Spurs fan would ever use the word shite when referencing The Legend that is Son!

Sonny had a bad season, his worst. Yet he was still our most productive front player - with 16 goal involvement ( goals and assists).
Even at this age he is better than Solanke.
Unless we can get ridiculous money for him - I would keep until January.
See how he starts and the new players do - including Tel and Odobert

A forward line of Johnson, Solanke and Richarlison is a horror show. We don't want to line up with two of them in the team too often.
