But getting a one goal lead against City in an atmosphere that the old place could never match was pretty decisive in getting us to that final.
Some performances in the stadium since then have not been great but sometimes tactics are at fault, home to AC Milan and Conte's negative approach springs to mind.
Levy was discussing revenue with his comment about the new stadium being a game changer.

“To be one of the most successful clubs in Europe. The new stadium will be a game changer for us as it will create revenues that we can invest in the First Team and deliver success on the pitch – so that is a priority for us,”

So has every other club lol 😂

Transfer fees have increased exponentially over the last 6 years so every club is spending more and transfer records are being broken year on year.

Our issue is that as revenues have been increasing, the proportion invested in the football team has been decreasing .

As per the brutal, butchering of the wage bill which means we cannot attract the calibre of player to compete at the elite level that serial bullshitter Levy promised us.

If you're comparing the period which was before the stadium opened to now then what the fuck has 'every other club' got to do with the point being made?

We are comparing against ourselves not what other clubs were doing.

Go and look up the amount of money spent pre stadium build to what we have spent since, it's there in black and white and it's more than obvious that we are now spending money because of the increase in revenue.

Anyway the point is that what Levy said is correct, it has created revenues to allow us to invest in the team, as I keep saying the execution surrounding it with the lack of direction is the problem.

I get your point but it's more relative prior to 2023 The players the club has signed in the past few transfer windows have most likely not been for any specific manager due to their age in most cases but for Lange's data points and within the constraints of the club's transfer budget that I assume is set by Levy.

I just don't see how all these youths with potential are going to help the team become one of the most successful teams in Europe anytime soon.

And yes the club has spent more money since the new stadium was opened but it seems recently, I mean since 2023 the club has been focused more on signing young players with potential. I just don't see how that translates into the claim that levy made. OK Johnson cost quite a bit for a youngster but he's not the sort of player that I'd expect to see in the starting line ups of any of the best teams in Europe.

I can't speak for ENIC but I'm guessing that they looked at how they 'built' the team for Poch and want to carry that on for Frank, invest in young players with high potential and aim to get the best out of them and increase their value.

Again though this is a guess as I don't know what direction they'll change to next, I'm presuming that they have looked over the past few years where they've made countless mistakes and gone back to the model that they've used before again because they've strayed from this exact same model when we had Jol and were buying players like Lennon, Dawson, Huddlestone etc...

Don't ask me how that translates to success though.

They have invested in the first team , £120 million on two forwards for starters.

Hiring Frank has meant. A shift towards how levy really wants to run the club.
When we hire managers who require specific players to fit their system, it always goes wrong because, we won't really get in what they want.
This nod to youth is about, the club recruiting the players and the manager finding a system that gets the best out of all or most of them.
Translating that into success will be very difficult. Players if they show promise could, be lured away by clubs who win things and offer more dollar.
I'm not expecting much to change next season and the following seasons, if Frank gets the team better organised and hopefully top six then he is done his job.

When you actually counter a criticism with a contradictory fact...

Not Listening Dumb And Dumber GIF

Good for them. They had a £120m + asset in Kane. And should have been finding a similar level replacement for the same sort of fee. They didn’t. They got twice as many players for half the output. And are no better off financially for it either.

A similar level player replacement? lol

I think we need to come out of cloud cuckoo land here fella.

Except one of them actually helped us to a trophy, which Kane failed to do on several occasions

After selling our best one for £100 million
Who refused to sign a new contract after being offered something like £300 grand a week , he would have seen out his contarct and left on a free , then there would have been another outcry against DL, to add to highest paid , not now true , and most expensive tickets , we don't even have the most expensive tickets in London let alone the world as many keep implying.

So only have the wage/revenue moan left to moan about until Frank picks a 2nd string XI in our opening Caraboa cup tie.

PS and regarding Solanke and Richy if Kane and Son had shown half the commitment in the CL final that those two did in the Euro Final we might have got a different result.

PSS I will add Johnson to that more commitment that any of of forward three of kane Son and Dele in the CL final.

I think you're missing the conversation trail. I was highlighting a hypocrisy, which I suspect you've also nibble on.

Interesting how everyone agrees that winning trophies isn't actually a gauge for success or improvement when you invert the conversation from "ENIC/Levy haven't improved the club because trophies"
:sonhmm: :sonpoint:
I just deal in facts.

It was easier to win the 2025 Europa League than the League Cup due to the standard of the opposition.

The fact that the prize for winning the Europa League was Champions League football is the real magic in Spurs winning this trophy. Beating Manchester United in a major final also adds an extra coat of gloss to it.

I loved watching Spurs win it and enjoyed watching the parade.

Ange being replaced was the correct decision though.

It's the sequence of Levy's incorrect decisions, for the last 6 years, which we now need to concern ourselves with.

I live in hope that Lewis can finally see the wood for the trees.

So basically Levy has had to roll his neck in and go back to how the club was being run regarding football things before the new stadium was built. For whatever reason the club has been incapable of using the new stadium to become one of the most successful clubs in Europe. Which was the goal that Levy himself announced. Apparently (according to the Chairman's statement) in the club's Financial Results Year Ended 30th June 2024, which were publicised March this year, £700m has been spent on player acquisitions since April 2019 when the new stadium was opened which would have been from the summer transfer window later that year.

I can't think of many players signed that the supporters have been particularly happy with, Micky Van de Ven, maybe Perisic, I don't know who else. Maddison, Kulusevski, Bentancur are good on their day but all three are inconsistent. Johnson has poached a few goals by ghosting in at the far post but he's a fairly crap wide player. Reguilon and Doherty pleeeease!! Bissouma a few good games but he wound't be missed. PEH alright but limited, lots of supporters wanted rid. Sanchez, Clark, Sessegnon pfft. Vicario good shot stopper but panics with crosses and flaps to the degree that opposition teams target him, and he was signed because Levy didn't want to pay the price for Raya. Locelso, I could see he wan't going to work out during his loan but the club still signed him at a fairly high value, Werner!!. Sarr, Okay so far but nothing special, Udogie, alright I suppose but gets done on 1v1s too often. Porro improved towards the end of last season but was a liability before that, Romero, can be very good when he feels like it. Richarlison, scored 13 goals one season IIRC, Solanke might score more goals if the wide players weren't so crap.

Mourinho sacked just prior to League Cup final. replaced until the season's end by Mason, who selected his mates to play.
Nuno Espírito Santo was treated like shit by the club and expected make the team play alternatively to his own style that had worked for him at Wolves, because Levy had made an end of season statement about the next manager playing attacking flowing football. Spurs DNA ,,,
Conte never really wanted to be at Spurs and thought he was above the role, lived in a hotel so he could easily pack his bags and fuck off, after telling the world about the lack of ambition of the club.
Postecoglou, just wanted to attack until he realised his second season prophecy was at risk.

But apart from that it's all hunky dory.
