Why would you accept £50m now when you have the potential of other clubs bidding now and activating the release clause, makes sense for them to hold out for another few days, no?

No PL club is paying 80mil for a release clause, even the Pikey's know that.

North of sixty and the Pikey's will take it.

They need the money for remaining within FFP and for funding incoming players.

I think we will do a deal next week.

What are you on about? Zubimendi didn't take months. They agreed a deal with him in January but they had to wait for the summer to complete it, due to his release clause. What did you expect? they' sign him in March or something? top signing by the way. He's class.

Was that supposed to be a slight on Woolwich? They didn't do anything in January, but they finished 2nd. Where did we finish?

They didn't pay the release clause. They took months to sign him because they didn't want to activate it - in spain it requires it to be paid in full and they couldn't afford to, so they've ended up paying more than the clause so that Sociedad will accept the fee in instalments.

Sure, sure. So if we were 2nd in January and needed a striker, you'd be complimentary about the club not doing a bean in January.

We won the Europa League, which is far more than Woolwich have ever done in Europe.

That's rubbish.

We won a trophy because of the law of large numbers. (Check Google if unsure.

Woolwich have arguably been the best side in the last 3 years, exactly as we were 7 or 8 years ago but won nothing.

What they are doing is trying to strengthen whilst they are still strong.

The trophy last season was glorious, but simpletons believe it was based on the capability of this squad.

They are further away from.us than we ever were from them..
You must have read that back and spoke out loud "I must be as fick as pigsh!t".....bad enough bigging up the Rapists Rovers as it is but try applying some logic to your assertion afore posting because to argue Woolwich have been the best side in the last 3 years but won nothing is an absolute contradiction in terms.

Firstly for no other reason than in 2022 we thumped them 3-0, which was quite a double whammy as it dumped them out of a CL and help put us there instead.

Secondly, whilst I hold my hand up their trajectory has been upwards compared to a decline by us the biggest criticism voiced by all our detractors during the period when we were challenging on a number of fronts was it counts for nothing unless you win something.

Now, I'm not one of those who suggests we are champions of Europe, that's bollocks but we did win something and that is more than they have done over the period you mention.

Coming from a Spurs fan I also find it curious to hear the theme about Woolwich being the best team when they have actually failed to win something....that's not you Mikel is it?

You said Woolwich took months. They registered thier interest in January and essentially agreed a deal with the player then, and they signed him in July. Considering you can't make signing in Feb - May, how exactly have they taken months?!

Just admit, they didn't take months mate. The window opened in June, and they signed him in July. What a weird thing to try and criticise them about.

Oh no, they signed a top talent in midfield in July, when the earliest they could sign him was in June....

Yes we had a special night, but on a weekly basis their fan base is far happier.

What are you going to do if we lose every week in the upcoming season? keep harking on about winning the Europa league? it's done mate. Been and gone. It's in our history book, but that trophy isn't going to make us feel any better if Woolwich challenge for the league title and we finish midtable.

I'm hopeful now we have Frank, we will be a proper side, but this weird behaviour by our fans when some of us point out that Woolwich are far more ambitious than we are is just odd. I'd love to see is go out and spend like Woolwich are, give Frank a proper go of it.

Some of us will moan about it, because it takes the piss that we have to settle for owners who don't compete for the best players and don't spend the money. We never do enough to complete the team, resolve our weak spots, it's why we usually fall short.

We are owned by a bloke who isn't ambitious and doesn't spend the money to ensure we can challenge properly, whilst down the road they act like a proper big club with their transfers, end of. It's sickening.

Just checking in to find out why we are wanking off the local rapist shelter this week, to find out it’s because they’re signing Gyokeres.

Last week this place was losing its mind because they were signing Eze.

Previous to that they were signing some fella called Benjamin Tesco.

Their squad must be fucking massive by now, with all these signings.

If it didn't take months, why have they only just signed him in July

The other position is DM. We need to get a proper good one. Beyond that a back up LB and if Romero leaves a LCB to cover VDV, no point replacing RCB as we have Danso, Vuskovic, Dragusin.

Given the amount of CBs we already have I’d bet we are Mickey LB/LCB in a lopsided back 4

Not saying it’s the right move but given Mickey does it for the Dutch and numbers a real issue, I’m sure Frank will have to make due

Yes we won the Europa, big fucking deal

Fucking deluded mate

A club that has won 1 league cup in 25 years and no European trophy in 41 years and you downplay the Europa win in this manner?

It's absolutely true that the league position last season was out of order and Ange paid the price for it. However, this club, this group of players and staff actually won one of the major prizes on offer to us last season. There is no need to piss all over it like you are

A cursory google of “when were Woolwich first linked to Zubimendi” gives a huge number of news stories and within every one, it’s written that they were trying to sign him last summer but couldn’t afford to. And their interest was the reason why the player didn’t sign for Liverpool back then.

Whilst I’m not one for believing everything I read, 100% of reports is a pretty high level to ignore.
