Speaking exclusively to TBR Football about whether another club could hijack Tottenham’s move, Bailey said: “No is the answer. He’s expressed his desire to go to Tottenham. There’s a reason that he’s already rebuffed interest from elsewhere, including Manchester City."

“Newcastle and Liverpool had looked at him briefly like they were aware of his situation, as all the big teams were completely aware of him, but he’s made it clear he wants to go to Tottenham."

When asked about why he might have rejected City, Bailey added: “He obviously views Tottenham as the better option. A lot is going on at City, a lot of ins and outs."

“That’ll certainly come into his thinking. He needs to be playing every week at a top level. Is he going to do that at City? It’s a bit harder. Tottenham have sold him on the project, is my understanding.”

My sources are telling me that Spurs have no intention of walking away from the deal on MGW, and the player "only wants Spurs" so there's no risk of someone hijacking the deal."

I'll keep you posted on new information as it becomes available, however please understand that this is highly confidential information and I can't put my source at risk because Marinakis is a drug lord that has people disappeared for fun.

I'd be amazed if this gets done now. Levy isn't going to pay more than the release clause. Marinakis is going to continue to dig in and drag this out. Only the player can resolve this at pace and he turned up at training yesterday so he clearly isn't going to rock the boat. As much as I'd like to see Gibbs White in a Spurs shirt, time to move on. Forest will now have to deal with an unhappy and unmotivated player. Maybe they double his wages and promise him he can leave next summer but we should walk away now and focus on our next target.

How much is the release clause and who told you?

No it's not time to move on, try a little patience.

The majority of Forest fans on their forum think it will get done with Levy paying more then the release.

There is a legal obligation to accept a fee that matches the terms of the release clause. You’re right, it does rely on MGW implementing legal action if Forest don’t accept it, as it’s breaking the terms of the contract. His agents can also take legal action due to their client being held at ransom, a loss of earnings for the agent, and Wolves can as well due to a loss of sell on percentage.

It’s much bigger than just Forest saying no.

Oh shut up you absolute blanket.

The current reporting seems much more positive anyway. Journalist Graeme Bailey claiming MGW only wants Spurs so there is no danger to a hijack.

Feels extremely unlikely he stays at Forest if he's been refusing a new contract all season. Why would he change his mind now, especially now that the secret is out and the fans know he wants to leave? It feels inevitable.

Family Matters What GIF
You're first in the line these days! Proper Levy's boy you've become.

Agree - I just feel like this playing out in court is going to drag on and on... leave them to it... even he really wants to join us he should be pulling every lever he can, and maybe he is and it's not being reported. I just don't want to wait on this one, that might never get done and miss out on other targets.
