I haven't seen this before but The Standard says :

Forest have now lodged a formal complaint to the Premier League over Tottenham's approach, with the club raising concerns over how Spurs became aware of confidential details within his contract.

Everyone is blaming Marinakis for this holdup, but I haven't seen anywhere any mention of him being behind it. Even though it would make sense that he is, does anyone know for sure this is the case?

No one knows what the fek is going on tbh, most of it is pure fan fiction.

Although it would seem that someone at Forest wasn't happy and sabotaged the deal when it was initially going through and everyone is pointing to Marinakis mainly because he came back from that ceremony on the same day and more likely it just suits the narrative to blame him 😆

Like I have said this transfer should be considered as dead. Without any action by MGW Nottingham Forest can take the stance the release clause does not exist. The playe ris the only one who can make sure the Minimum Fee Release Clause is adhered to. So if Forest decide not to sell we can do fuck all about it because we do not have any legal agreement with Forest.

Morgan Gibbs-Wait is what we’re calling him now.

If that's their position—let's assume they're adamant—what are the options? If they're unable to prove, for example, that there was tapping-up or a breach of confidentiality in respect of MGW's release clause, can they be compelled to sanction the transfer by the PL? If so, can whatever process we need to go through to get to that point actually run its course before the transfer window SLAMS shut?
Agree! I'm going to assume you are not a lawyer? If so like me the finer detail in all this is way beyond our pay grade and all the unqualified assumptions will continue.

Transfer windows are just insufferable now.

Social media is full to the brim with grifting dickheads claiming to be ITK, spouting absolute bollocks to get attention.

Good management. That’s how it should be. Restricting clubs to certain periods of the year to sign players isn’t really doing anything other than helping richer clubs and drive up prices.

We need to get rid of transfer windows totally.

It was mostly about protecting the poorer clubs so that they didn't have to sweat all season about players leaving, or have key players poached in the midst of a relegation batte..
A big part I'm sure what Sky trying to turn it into a soap opera twice a year.

It was no different way back when. Teletext page 225 for spurs, I think it was. "TeamTalk" premium rate numbers "Estonian international in talks with spurs" and it was almost always bullshit to make you pay £1/min

Used to be a highlight to getting home and checking the 'gossip'

Slippery slope there mate.

What's to stop the bigger clubs from unsettling players mid season by putting in a bid for them, particularly if that player is in form and makes a difference to their club?

There would need to be a whole bunch of iron clad regulations around that I think, and we've seen just how many loopholes are being exploited right now, so I think that would just give license to the richer clubs to take even more liberties, as the PL actively wants those few clubs constantly challenging, particularly in Europe. It's good for their brand.
