Didn’t really rate Paulinha even at Fulham. Got overhyped after he scored a couple of crackers a few weeks in a row. He’s got no mobility and hasn’t got quick enough feet on the ball. Maybe on Fulham’s small pitch and compact system it didn’t get picked up on. On our big pitch it’ll be another stupid signing.

He is incredibly physically dominate, a brute who made Fulham horrible to play against. He is not my choice but I do think he would be useful when playing superior teams and we need to muscle them. My concern is his age, 30 is quite old for a DM.

He was often the best player on the pitch from both sides when we played them.

Start of the summer he would have been on my list of 6's but I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed tbh.
Can do a job, suppose he would sit between the 2 cb's and bolstering us defensively but I think at 30 coming back to the prem he's perhaps had his best days.

Hoping he is just one of a few dms we are working on and we pull the trigger on someone else when it comes to it.

I remember him fouling a lot and a couple of really bad ones that he got away with. One against us I think. Would be good to get a physical imposing player but one like Baleba who can actually run and play a bit too.

BM learned he wasn't capable of a step up to a possesion based club with higher demands on the ball.... Foolish of us not to take heed.

I know sometimes we need to make compromises when it comes to targets but 6 was not the position to do so at all. What are we doing? Buying a cheaper 6 to buy a more expensive cb or sumin? Wasteful.

Only plus side is his leadership and toughness/steel.

Paulina reeks of another Levy opportunistic cheap purchase, not exactly what we want, possibly on the decline, but likely for half the price of the real deal so he will have to do, if this happens then nothing has changed.

Sorry, this is nonsense. The market for DMs is very poor right now. Paulinha is a quality player who showed he’s able to win duels in the PL. he might not be an expansive passer but deployed on the right way he’s a very experienced and reliable player IMO.

Fine; but do you really wanna build around the weaknesses of a 30 old DM?

Depends on the deal. I wouldn’t be surprised if we tried for a loan with an option and assess the market next summer.

This guy shields a defence properly, he shithouses, he would help establish us not the soft touch we were last season.

Yeah, I want that deep-lying passer but sometimes you have to be canny in putting a team together. Them lot down the road have done very well with ageing and experienced players in the engine room and got another in Norgaard for good measure.

Sorry but just fucking no

We needed a starting 11, spine of the team, centerpiece DM as a chief priority before the window started.

A 30 year old journeyman who just floppped at Bayern as a stop gap is small time and exactly why fans feel the club doesn’t really care about winning.

If he was a hotel, would Levy invest in Palinha?
