Theyve struck gold again with Bhoely. Straight after Abramovich too.

I said at the time, you don't spend that much money buying a club only to run them like our owners run us. They were always going to be big spenders. If anything, it's gone up 5 levels.

We have signed Kudus, Tel, Danso and Takai.
There's about £120m there and we will sign MGW

I am not quite understanding this. Isn’t a buyout clause paid by the player?

In other words, Tottenham plays the player who then pays his current club to terminate the contract.

Is this not how it works?

That's how Neymar's worked, but in Spain typically the player pays La Liga itself, who then pay the selling club. Neymar's was different because La Liga refused to accept the payment.

In England, I think there's more variety in term of how these clauses are structured.

Spain has mandatory, standardised release clauses.
England does not. They can say and stipulate whatever they want or not even exist.

That isn’t true, Wikipedia must just not be updated.

Emmanuel Latte Lath broke the record for Atlanta United for like $22M

Anyway, for us I think the question is really what the value of a clean slate is.

If we want Sonny to stay as a prominent player and likely the captain, retirement leagues can wait.

If not, well, then maybe they can’t.
He's meant far too much to this club to be forced out in the final year of his contract. And, again, he was top 10 in G+A/90 in the PL last season so this idea that he's gone to shite is radically overstated.

He's not what he was in his prime. But he's still pretty damn good, and almost certainly provides more value than we can get from the MLS or K League, which are likely the only places he has interest in.

So what are we moaning about today ?

The fighting is over whether Levy is making a serious effort to improve the 17th place club, and money spent to bring in new players is one way to measure the seriousness of that effort.

If nothing else the money spent on Tel and Danso could have been devoted to the transfer of someone who was not already part of that 17th place finish. It's questionable how either of those moves make the squad better or how we'd be any worse if we didn't have them.

The actions we see in this window so far are those of a chairman who's repeating all his past mistakes, changing the manger and not the players and expecting the manager to turn water to wine
I fully agree with you on that, my man. No need to convince me that Levy is a cunt. He could and should do a hell of a lot better.

It is just the manner in which that point is made - by comparing ourselves to other clubs and exaggerating our short comings in that comparison.

But we are on the same page regarding Levy and ENIC.
