Spence was one of our best players last season. He just had a big tail off the last few games or so. We only need a left back really to cover with Udogie. We have Kinsky as back up keeper, Vuskovic I am confident will be a monster, Dragusin is fine when not in a high line, Danso is good and Romero and VDV are very good.

I am not that concerned with our backline. It’s the one area we have real quality, we conceded a lot because we asked our backline to play a high line and our full backs to be attacking midfielders. That won’t happen this season.

I am far more concerned with the fact we don’t have a top DM going into a game against PSG in a few weeks. Throw the bag at Baleba or accept we are cheap and get Palhinha but make a call please. Let’s not throw away a game like this even if we are big underdogs.

2 FA Cups and a major European trophy. We were pretty much London's major club through that decade
There are 5 more seasons left in this decade so I will therefore reserve judgement on an overall comparison.

Although I will if I may speak out against those who wish to denigrate last season's success by the definition of winning a major European trophy.

The Europa League replaced the former uefa and ecwc competitions both of which we have won in the past and always regarded highly after the then most sought after European cup.

In spite of those running the Club I'm keeping everything thing crossed we are able to at least emulate the decade with a couple more cups and better positions in the league.

Let’s not sugarcoat it — we finished 17th last season. Seventeenth. One spot above the drop zone. And yet somehow, we ended up lifting the Europa League trophy. If that doesn’t scream “Spurs,” I don’t know what does.

Levy’s still out here saying he wants to win the Premier League and Champions League. Mate, we nearly got relegated. If there’s a plan, it’s probably locked in a drawer next to the stadium naming rights.

We spent £165 million last season and still managed to look like a team cobbled together in a panic. Our wage bill? Lowest in the Big Six. Our league form? Relegation scrap. Our manager? Gone after bringing Europa League Glory. But hey, we’ve got a shiny stadium and a European trophy, so it’s all good, right?

The squad’s still bloated with “pretty good” players. Son’s still got flashes of brilliance, Brennan Johnson scored the winner in a European final, and the rest? Well, they’re trying their best. Sometimes.

So yeah, we’re technically a Big Six club — if you’re only looking at revenue. On the pitch? We’re a soap opera with a trophy cabinet.
If I wanted to diss MU I would constantly mention that they finished 15th last season. Therefore if I wanted to diss Spurs I would constantly mention that they finished17th last season as many posters keep saying. So why do so many posters keep posting that rather than the fact we were Europa champions last season. We were not in a relegation scrap. You mention that our wage bill was lowest of the top 6th but fail to mention it is better than the rest and this is the transfers thread.
This thread is about transfers and not another thread to diss the club. Let’s keep that for the ENIC thread and discuss the transfer talk.
We do need more first team starters but need quality and not quantity, so 1/2 more and maybe loans which come at the end of the window.

I suspect, from his previous, Frank will go 5-3-2 against PSG. May well be that one of the 3 at the back steps forwards as a kind-of 6. I guess we'll see.

It would have been ideal to have kept the manager change secret and have it WWE style, with PSG ready to face our suicidal back line, then Frank comes out to the undertaker music and the camera cuts to Luis Enrique looking flushed.

Wasn't it the Brentford MO not too long back to try and score within the first two minutes to disrupt the opponent's plans? I am equally worried and equally excited for it, as we might see some kind of tactical masterclass or a disaster

I'm going to start writing a daily poem about the MGW saga.

“Fifteen Days”

Fifteen days, the deal’s gone cold,
While Morgan’s dream is bought and sold.
A clause ignored, a plea denied—
By Forest’s lord with too much pride.

They say he once dodged darker fate,
With ships of heroin, court, and hate.
Now he holds Gibbs‑White in chains,
As spite and scandal stain the game.
Maybe pride should be pide. He looks like he’s eaten a few.

Still, an injury means we'd be rotating in someone who isn't primarily a LWB or RWB, like VDV or Davies.

Spence IS "primarily" a RB though.

........But yeh; off the bat I acknowledged a new #2 LB would be desirable.

That's more of an issue to me than the interpretation of what our midfielders currently offer.

I find it hard to agree with that...... Of course injury cover is a legit concern, but the blend of abilities (and distribution of roles, 2 or 3 players etc.) within any MF is crucial to how a team is able to operate.

it is sensitive to how Frank wants to set up though isn't it? We're not going to end up not needing wide cover in defence though IMO, unless he goes full on 3-4-3

It depends how much we could get for him and who we would be buying to replace him, I think he is a very good player when fit, its just he never seems to stay fit (for us) I remember the same conversations around GLC, maybe if we had a good player in mind to replace Sonny then it wouldn't be so risky to keep Richie.

My worry is the Sonny replacement is Tel , who hasn't done anything yet to show us he is even fit to Lace Son's boots, don't get me wrong he might still come good but I would have rather taken the risk on Moore last season and seeing what he could do instead of Tel.

That’s definitely the plan, it’s so fucking transparent. Then Levy will be wondering why the fans are pissed off and booing the team when we don’t win games and then why he has to ultimately sack yet another manager. Recruitment will stitch up yet another manager.

Currently:

Maddison, Son, Richarlison, Solanke, Johnson, Odobert, Kudus, Tel, Gil, Soloman, Kulusevski, Bissouma, Sarr, Bergvall, Bentancur.

That's 15 players in attack and midfield. How on earth is that 'horrendous depth'.
This isn’t good depth lol

Both strikers could be upgraded, both left wingers could be upgraded, both cdm could be upgraded

Just merely having numbers in a position doesnt mean the depth is good
