Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

A serious big club would be putting their balls on the table and paying what it takes for Eze or Simmons who can play as a 10 and nominally off the left. 2 positions we need filling.

Yep, ENIC has lowered our expectations to think we should be buying second tier players.

If we had better owners we would be signing the likes of Eze or Simons. They should not be out of our reach .

Alasdair Gold:

The team Spurs beat in that Europa League final have not sat still. Manchester United have added proven quality in Bryan Mbeumo to their ranks, joining Matheus Cunha as a big money arrival while Diego Leon has also arrived this summer with the trio setting United back £130.8million.

Manchester City have spent £126million so far on four signings but last season's top two Liverpool and Spurs' north London rivals Woolwich are getting huge business done.

Arne Slot's side completed a £69million deal for Hugo Ekitike after that potential British record transfer of £116million for Florian Wirtz to take their transfer tally to £269million, while Woolwich's signing of Viktor Gyokeres took their spending to more than £200million with the prospect of adding Eberechi Eze on top of that.

Don't forget Chelsea either who have spent £212million with Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap among the new faces.

Spurs are looking up and gawping at all of those sides on the ladder above them at a time when they needed to be trying to leap up to grab their ankles.

This should have been a time of pushing on. It's no longer an era when bringing in one big money signing is enough. The £55million put towards Kudus is just the tip of the iceberg compared to other side's spending this summer. Everyone knows Spurs were prepared to spend £60million on Gibbs-White so they will have to invest that now on someone else.

I don't usually like his journalism but this is spot on

“Everyone knows Spurs were prepared to spend £60million on Gibbs-White”

Sorry Ali, you’ll have to try again with that one

Maybe some of us temporarily believed we were prepared to spend 60m on MGW but most of us snapped out of that delusional state pretty quickly.

It's amazing the glee you see from some posters that the MGW transfer collapsed. We miss out on a player that would have made a huge difference for us and, instead of being gutted, they're happy because it gives them something to bash the owners with.

Pretty pathetic...
You were one of the ones last summer saying that the window was good and the kids would step up weren't you?

Did you enjoy the record league losses?

This window is shaping up to be even worse than last summer was, so maybe instead of having a pop at genuinely concerned fans who can see which way the wind is blowing due to years of experience watching ENIC operate you can stand in solidarity and realise we are all being shafted by these frauds.

I've no doubt he means it when he says he 'wants' to win the Premier League and Champions league. The problem is he thinks he can do it his way, not spend any money and coach mediocre players into Champions league material.
Exactly. He just wants to achieve what nobody else has, so he can prove to the world what an unrivaled genius he is. It's all about his ego. And unfortunately the EL win only gonna reinforce that idea of his.

Despite his self appointed reputation as a deal maker, he's got a history of getting his pants pulled down when he spends big money - Ndomble, Los Celso, Richarlison, Soldado and these are just a few names, there's so many more - so it's unlikely he sees this as the way forward.
He's utterly atrocious at the business side of football. Combined with his very unlikeable personality, it's easy to see how other clubs hate dealing with Spurs and have no qualms about publicly fucking us...and why the authorities won't back us.

It seems we are no longer just Tottenham Football Club, we are the sports division of an entertainment company.
This one gonna give my man Honest John Honest John the boner of the century. Simply yet brilliantly put, my friend.

Poor Frank has got an absolutely massive job on his hands.
Frank doesn't seem the type to complain, especially publicly. He's a nice, decent guy and Levy knows that...and will take advantage of it. Also Frank doesn't actually have to care...he's over 50, at a big club (on paper), getting his fattest wage packet ever, knows his shelf life is limited to circa 2 years and that when he does get the sack his rep will be pretty much intact cause everyone fails at Spurs. Also may just be happy with the squad as it is, since it's better (on paper) than what he had at his previous clubs. And man is not stupid, he knows all the promises made during his interviews were just the usual bullshit a la Levy.

That’s who we’ll get because he’s got a low release clause apparently!

So fucking transparent with this club. We’ll go for the younger option and hope it pays off all while not being what we actually need. The club think they are being clever, but they aren’t, we’ve all seen through it.

Not all of us have mate

Even after this obvious charade ended, I’m getting told I’m living in an alternate universe for pointing out the obvious

Oh please fuck off with that shite.

It's yet another example of juw anatueur our leadership can be and how easy they can be embarrassed by other clubs.

That fat Greek bastard beat us and it makes our club look weak. Do you think this would've happened to a Chelsea or City if they'd bid for MGW?

Anyway, fuck Forest a club that were only ever relevant when they had a genius at the helm. Hope they go down next season.

The sad thing is we knew how much ground there was to make up, then all the other clubs decided to strengthen from a position of strength leaving us well and truly languishing in a firm sea of mediocrity that will take huge amounts of competence to undo. Ergo we are fucked. If you were on the fence about renewing your season ticket this year, this might be smarting somewhat

Always liked Forest. Hope they go down now because of that fat fuck. European football will hurt their league form. Last season was largely a fluke. They're probably too good to go down, but they certainly won't have the season they just did.
