Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Only just saw this news, but wow. Just wanna say, what a bunch of cunts from the Forest fatty and MGW. Pathetic. £60m and CL football. Both took neither. Brains stuff of shit for both.
I’m not having a pop here, obviously emotions are high because it’s another shit transfer window , and we’ve not managed to get a decent player over the line.

But why are forest and their chairman cunts? They have managed to keep hold of one of their best assets and not roll over. Fair play to them I say, surely it’s good for football that clubs can do this . More power to them and hope this happens more regularly.

Let’s be honest, financially we are a top 6 team but football wise we are way off that. Highly likely Forest will finish above us again aswell .

Can you not understand that just because something doesn’t happen doesn’t mean the infortmation wasn’t correct at the time? If both Spurs and the agents believed the MGW bid had been accepted and he was due for a medical and feed Romano that information, why would he not post it?
Talking of tin hats and conspiracy, If you believe the Interwebs these days then 9/11 didn't happen either!
But I definitely SAW it happen!!

But it didn't apparently !!! Go figure...

You don’t know any of that happened, I don’t know any of it didn’t.

We are all talking out of our arse but apparently certain journalists saying something makes it true.

Doesn’t change the outcome in reality for Spurs fans does it?

If people feel some comfort in going along with the way the MGW saga was reported, then fair play to them. To me it makes fuck all difference, he’s still at Forest and all there is to show for it, is some stories on the internet with no confirmed sources and no quotes.
Yeah end of the day all that matters is we finished 17th with 22 defeats and were pound-for-pound the shittest team in the league. But it's now July 27th and we've only signed a Japanese kid for commercial purposes plus Kudus...and only cause West Ham were in the shit otherwise he wouldn't even be here!!! Made Danso and Tel permanent, despite already having a zillion CB and the latter having a bang average loan spell here last season. And extended Ben's contract. That after our chairman claiming he wants to win the PL and CL.

The joke club by definition.

All they’ve done is kept him for a year.

Removed the release clause, and paid him more money. When they eventually sell him, he will have lost a year of his career and they’ll only make 10-20m more money. It’s so small time in the great scheme of things.

THE ANSWER IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE LEVY & LEWIS!
They sound like a double act that ISN'T FUNNY!

I am curious about how we didn't meet the release clause

Highest paid player in their history

Probably a new release clause or a promise he can leave when a "big club" come calling

I can see why he signed it

Like I said, he will go for more than 60m next summer prob to a rival and we will be kicking ourselves we missed out

Spurs might well have met the release clause - BUT player needs to agree to come to Spurs on top of meeting release clause ..... rumours are that he did initially but 'changed his mind or mind changed for him'

Player 'persuaded' to sign a new contract until 2028 - yes that short a contract.

Reason the contract is that short is very likely he's now on a huge salary, probably £20m pa,+ maybe £30m (who knows) but way more than anyone in their right minds would pay him.

But that ensures he stays at Notts Forest for at least one more season - when Forest may well still be able to sell him for £60m or even £80m (uplift if he plays ell in CL).

So Forest do not lose financially at all as they get their £60m or £80m transfer fee - and keep him for at least one season when in CL when they can afford to over pay him.... and maybe he takes Notts Forest past CL league stage (worth an extra £10m maybe £20m by itself).

No way can anyone else both pay Forest £60m for him and put him on £20m or £30m pa salary for a 5 year contract.

There are question marks over the player and agent integrity ....... but club owner has a reputation (not proven in court) for 'persuading reluctant people' so maybe that took place too.
