Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Garnacho and mainoo basically funding man utd getting sesko or someone.

No game changers by the sound of it

I read yesterday that Tel has a high goals per 90 in bundesliga than Sesko. He does seem to be a bit Zirkzee/Hojlund, so you'd kind of expect them to not go down that particular path.

Watkins was a bit more like what I'd expect them to go for (proven goalscorer) but I'd stop well short of comparing him to a van Persie or Shermingham type signing they'd typically go for, but I don't think they are a that level any more

Why would we go for players that Manchester United deem as not good enough? Need to aim higher.
Players United deemed not good enough -
McTominay - just won Serie A player of the season and brought Napoli a title.
Alvaro Carreras - United let go for a pittance 12 months ago, now signed for 40m as Real’s starting LB.
Rashford - just signed for Barcelona.

They are not in any way a well-run club. Whether we should sign him or not - not for me. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he excels at his next club.

More than our current two CFs though I suspect. Not much of an achievement I know!

Quite possibly.

Solanke is doing exactly what players like him do.

It's not his fault, and he helped us to win the Europa, but high grade striker (goalscorer), in the top level. he isn't and aside from maybe one season, (which he may already have had), that won't ever change.

I said all this when we were linked last summer. As ever, the let's sign anyone brigade thought differently. And partly, that's why a small bit of me is okay with waiting fir quality.....as long as we get it.

Always feels as though we don't start "looking" until pre-season is well under way.

Like nobody at the club could have had the foresight to know in advance that we're woefully lacking in depth at left back and creativity.

Meanwhile we're still being linked with MORE centre backs and wide players.

I have faith that the current group will be improved by a greater attention to detail from the new coaching team, but it seems as though Levy and co. might be expecting way too much in this respect.

He does this occasionally, isn’t a Spurs fan but pops in to let everyone know how we do everything wrong and then says things about us being too focused on the Prem market and we never buy anyone from abroad where it’s better value, you know all our prem signings like Vicario, Porro, Romero, VDV, Udogie, Bergvall….

There’s a lot of truth in Lange having deficiencies, and let’s face it our transfer approach is awful, but it’s not simply down to us not shopping for better players abroad and only going prem based. It’s because our set up and player identification in general is fairly poor.
Lange signed one of those names listed, the rest were Paratici
