That's £8m more than the MGW release clause we triggered.

So no.

£8m is more.

That's just not who we are, mate.

We've gone from a PL proven England international to, in all likelihood, a teenage punt from a relegation team.

THAT'S who we are, mate.
Yep. The MGW thing should have given them a kick up the arse. It should have been a fuck you moment of ok, we'll just go and sign a better player then and do what it takes to get Eze. They are so meek, wet and dithering. It looks like all eggs were in that basket, they expected it to go through and they now come across like they have had their lunch money stolen.

That's the hope, but how sure can you be it will change in the right direction? We get bought by a fella like Textor and we'll be pining for the good old days of ENIC. The grass is not always greener and I'm hoping that when ENIC sell they'll do a thorough due diligence to ensure it's to a buyer that will take the club forward.
You're right, we could end up with Manure's owners, but equally, we can't stay where we are. Standing still is going backwards. We're going to have to roll that dice.

It’s the optics though, they must realise that fans are expecting more, better signings - so don’t have the team responsible for that off on a tour of the far east where they are contributing what exactly?

Our PR people have to be among the shittest going - is it just interns?
I do get the optics aren’t great, but I also get that I don’t know how conversation flows within the team. Maybe Frank likes having Lange around so they can chat new players and strategies over a coffee, or on the side of the training pitch. This in person contact is maybe more important than in person contact with other clubs or players that aren’t ours yet. Fuck knows why he’s there, but I have to assume there’s a good reason.

Wow...
This is shaking up to be the biggest act of neglect and dereliction of duty by the ownership in their entire 25 yeays. ANY ownership
It's worse than 2018 as it stands when we signed nobody. We was a top 4 team back then.....
...but we've just staved off relegation and lost more games in a season than ever before!
Sleepy GIF

If that's the rationale, then it's fucked up. They can they can chat new players and strategies over the phone. Surely, face to face is more important when making deals and convincing potential acquisitions on the project?

What I find odd is that you haven't noticed that nothing leaks as far as our transfers are concerned until the very last minute. So why should not being linked to anyone come as a surprise? That and conflating the fact that the absence of transfer rumors, of which 99% are bollocks, means we're sitting on our hands.

I mean, do you guys give any deliberate thought to what you moan about, or is it just stream of consciousness?
Hate when people have to outright lie to prove their point.

Don’t know who this is, but the point stands;

Pay wages, get players.

Big clubs sign big players on big wages

Oversimplified but pretty much proven time and time again

Newcastle have the added problem that no one wants to be in Newcastle.

From a finance perspective Newcastle are the richest club in the world but are PSR fucked, we just have no investors or owners with any money but have great PSR.

Maybe it is. We don’t know. I’m possibly remembering, with rose tinted glasses, the talk of “Big Ange called me and convinced me to come” talk from previous windows. Maybe Frank requested Lange come on the trip?

I do know that in my business, if one of the most important members of my team wants to travel somewhere, he’d better have a fucking good reason and not just be going for a jolly. Doubt we operate differently to that. Is there a world where the famously tight arsed Levy says to Lange “aye, just come along - we’ll have a few drinks and a bit of a laugh, don’t be worrying about the day job”.

We have everything going for us, premier league, champions league, London, stadium, training facilities, PSR wiggle room, the lowest wage to turnover in the prem. We are just choosing to act this way.

Newcastle are stiffed because of PSR and being in Newcastle.

Only yesterday I wrote the CL thing is a myth. Long since been the case. Only idiots think it matters.

I'm unimpressed by our activity so far and whilst I think our squad is decent, it's nowhere near good enough to provide expectation of glory.

It's not just money that players want. I think some of any desire to join a club is a sense of direction of travel and intention.

Frank will have to undo some of the perception, but needs better resources to bring that about.
