We got so used to 40 goals between Kane and Son that some think we can just go out and get a new 20 goal striker.
Realistically, I would be happy with 30 goals between Dom, Rich and Maddison.

There’s a difference between prime age hand me downs - these rarely meet expectations. Palhinha falls into this category.

However, Van Der Vaart was 10 levels above Palhinha, he was squeezed out cos Madrid bought Kaka & Ozil. I don’t see Bayern buying any top CM’s, they just want rid, the same way PSG couldn’t wait to get rid of UGARTE after 12 months

Llorente, Gudjohnssen, Naybet, Davids, Bale, Gallas were all proven at the very highest level, Palhinha isn’t.

Kulusevski, Bentancur, Romero all young enough and GDS was a youth punt who was never going to get the minutes at Barca because of the minor issue called Lionel Messi.

All Palhinha has is a good season at a mid-table club. That makes him a Morgan Schneiderlin to me.

Sometimes it just doesn't work out for players in a certain club \ league, its a risk of course however its a loan, and if he can have a season like he did last time he was in the PL it will turn out a very good deal, if not its just Timo mk2
I can understand why the club has done it and he will undoubtedly help us in bigger games.

However IF the aim is to get back to where we were, then a 1-dimensional shin kicker isn’t going to cut it vs 13/14 teams in the league.

I anticipate a lot of “spurs have run out of ideas” type scenarios this season.

For us, it's really more about cutting down the goals we concede than replacing the goals we scored.

If we can reduce our GA by saying 20-25 for the season, then that's equivalent to getting in a striker who'd score the same amount.

If Tel & Odobert manage to contribute say 10 less goals than Son between them for the season, that still leaves us a net positive of 10-15 goals for the season, which could potentially mean we are in the running for CL spots.

That's why I'm thinking that signing Palinha could be a bigger needle mover for us than many are giving it credit for.

I'm not suggesting we'll suddenly turn into title challengers, but the old saying springs to mind, goals win games, but defenses win titles.

Yeah i'm not sure what the long term plan is, it will be interesting to see what Frank's plan is for Gray as he wanted him before he came to Spurs, last season though we were just to weak in midfield , I'm not even sure what Formation Frank is going to play, I think he will change it game to game, but Palhinha will hopefully mean we aren't bullied so easily, I really hope the club are thinking about next season as well and this is just a stop gap.

I know he divides opinion, the majority being he's not good enough, but I'd like to see us test Chelsea with a 60m bid for 24 year old Nicolas Jackson! I think under Frank he could become our Ivan Toney.
Solanke is criminally underrated on here. He's better than Jackson at almost everything.

Yeah, he didn't score enough goals last season but his all around performances were brilliant. He's not an elite like Isak/Haaland but then players are rare. If he adds more goals to his game then he's a brilliant number 9!

I hate repeating myself but for everyone at the back.... SOLANKE IS NOT THE PROBLEM!

I'd be worried about the build up play in a Sarr Palinha double pivot personally. Think Bentancur or Bergval will need to play beside one of the other 2.
I guess for Teams that sit back we will have the option of something like below, add in Udogie and Porro getting forward the only position that worries me is Udogie's Rotation and Tel being the Heir to Sonny, really need to see a lot more from Tel as its a huge Gamble , the club has the MGW money , go out and get a marque signing now to replace Sonny and someone to rotate with Udogie and Frank will actually have a chance.

...................Palinha.............
.....Bergvail......... .......Maddison'.......
Kudus...........Solanke................Tel
