Yeah same. I also learnt this unskilled hoodlum has at least 15 different ways of spelling his name.
Agree with a bunch of what she said but keep hearing that Wharton is the 6 we ideally need (not just her, but but on this forum). I don't understand why people keep insisting he is a 6... He is clearly not (as shown when compared to Gravenberch, Caicedo, Palhinha and Baleba).
A 6 doesn’t always mean a destroyer. Wharton is a Carrick or Buesquets in style, he still sits deep, screens the defence but his main attribute is controlling the game from deep or getting the ball quickly forward.
Obviously these terms can be flexible, but for me "6" and "destroyer" are synonyms, that laser focus on tackling and breaking up opposing play is exactly what I mean when I say a "true 6".
Which is not to say the Carrick's of the world are not brilliant footballers who can anchor great teams as CDM's.
Carrick was fucking awful at defending for much of his career. I used to watch him as players drifted by him, it was part of the reason England were hesitant to play him at CDM. Carrick though went to United and clearly they coached him as within 2 seasons or so he was quite good at defending. Wharton watching him for Palace seems to have no issue tracking runners and cutting off space, he just isn’t a beast like Palhinha or Baleba but I certainly don’t watch Wharton and see the issue Carrick had in his pre-United career.
Has he actually joined or is some fat Greek mobster going to wreck this too?

With the ball he’s outstanding and he’d be an amazing 6 in Spain but in the PL, he needed legs around him for Palace last year and he had a brutal injury record

The dream model 6 is Busquets who has the legs to cover distance quick, defensive instincts and IQ but also a technical wizard.
Thats why I’m holding my Archie Gray stocks. He has all of that and playing FB/CB will only make him a better 6 in the long term
The outside of the foot 3 touch 45 degree pirouette was a thing of beauty.
I think in terms of what the rest of our team where he was consistently one of the best players on the pitch (for the first two years). Levels have obviously gone up a notch from then but I liked having him at my club. Also they did get relegated but he won the FWA player of the year. Ronaldo x 2, Gerrard, Rooney, Parker, Van Persie, Bale, Suarez the years around him so it's not like it's some sort of best tryer handout.

This fella at 75% of Fulham performances improves us. We have missed out for so long on a fucking bruiser in midfield.
Every single great team has a water carrier.
We had glimpses of this but never one with so few miles on the clock or unobtainable.
He sits in front of a coached back line. We are immediately better.
He chips in with a goal or two.
We can focus on a striker who can get us 15 goals a season guaranteed then we are looking decent.
Our forward line scares me more than our defence now we're being coached game by game.

Just give us a mean scoring machine and we will be pretty decent
