Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I personally hope Odobert is out first choice LWF this season and think it will be a break out season for him.
That’s just on hope surely. He’s not shown very much to suggest a break out season. He has a few nice moments in games that rarely lead anywhere and he also disappears a lot. He really doesn’t have any kind of fear factor either. He’s a decent rotation option but to be anything more than that he needs to do or show a lot more. Is he capable of that? Not convinced myself

True but hopefully Frank will do the same with him as he has done with other forwards.

TBH Son hasn’t done any of that for two years. Ange killed his shooting.
Not even sure it was Ange. He'd fallen off a cliff even before Kane left IMO.

People are going on about the need to replace Son and moaning others don't score enough, but half the reason they don't score enough is Son running into dead ends and losing the ball.

I doubt Madison will.play on the left? Maybe Kudus? But I thought he was more a RW and only played on the left at WH because Bowen plays in the right
He’s left footed - but looks versatile to me, I would like to see us go back to wingers on their strong foot delivering crosses… especially with Johnson attacking the back post

Agree on Maddison but he should. Beats players, can go either way and delivers well. He can go missing centrally, I’ve always thought he looks better narrow wide

Wasn’t he top PL scorer that season? 23/24?

I agree he had started to lose his spark as a provider / winger and that definitely has dropped further over the last two years.

You must be nearly as old as me !
Yeah I'm getting on a bit. The beard is growing greyer by the day, I've got aches in parts of my body I didn't even know existed, my erections are like 60% of what they used to be...but hey, we ain't Bazali Bazali or Bill Madrid Bill Madrid old so that's that 😂

This is an excellent post, I enjoyed reading that!
Bill Murray Applause GIF by MOODMAN

Deuterz Deuterz and The Extra Mile(sey) The Extra Mile(sey) ... anything to add?
Yes absolutely

I will be forever thankful that this club introduced me to legendary characters such as Fixxy and his ambishun stick , Shady "ok" Dan and everyone's favourite humble Frenchman Le Parisien the Piedmont terracia dweller

I am forever humbled

No, he was top scorer in 21/22.
The next season he got 10 and was looking spent. I remember people calling for his head and he was benched.
And then came off fhe bench to score a hat trick against Leicester and turn the game around. 3 of his 10 goals in 1 half of football.

"Johnson and Odobert are nothing more than bench warmers for an elite club"

"Again that's not doing them down"

Sober up old boy, you are making yourself sound like a right twat.

Two thoughts.

When was the last time we brought in an "elite club" player pray tell.

Is this your first season supporting Spurs?

It appears that according to you neither are up to much, but if they prove you wrong we are good to go with them.

Nothing like putting your balls on the line with an even bet mate.

Who cares when was the last time we brought in an elite player? We should be doing that. Just because Levy has lowered your standards so much, doesn't mean we all eat that shit.

How's that doing them down? It's true. They aren't good enough for an elite club right now. What other club who charges the price of tickets that Levy does, goes into a season with CL football, hoping that a kid who has barely made any impact at all in the PL so far, is good enough to be a starting LWF? You can delude yourself as much as you want, it's not good enough.

I am talking about Odobert, but it also applies to Tel. Who has shown practically fuck all so far in a Spurs shirt really. And Odobert looks potential and that is it. It's a huge gamble going into the season with those two as first choice, when they haven't shown they can score more than a goal in a PL season let alone make a sufficient impact.

I had the same conversation with people like you last summer no doubt. I bet you were one of those who was saying that Gray was going to be Roy Keane reincarnatted and walk staright into the team, hence we didn't need top CM brought in. And that Odobert was absolutely fine being our top LWF signing for that summer. How did that turn out?

You seriously think if we are lining up in the CL games this season, that Odobert or Tel are good enough to be a LWF? do you think that will strike fear into the opposition? No, we need to bring in someone who can deliver now, and let Tel and Odobert rotate and develop naturally over a few seasons.

Same shit every summer. We don't do nearly enough in the window, and then we get people on here patronising those of us with concerns. Fuck that, no other top elite club signs kids and then waits for them to develop and pretends to try and be competitive, all the while kidding the fans we want to win the CL and PL and charging highest prices in the country.

And I don't drink by the way.

If Chelsea or Woolwich had finished 4th bottom but qualified for the Champions League Rodrygo would be realistic ....So he should be realistic for a club of similar size and wealth like us.

This is the broblem with our fanbase. Cowered and battered down by years of abuse by the owners.

We really do need to raise our fucking standards

Spot on, we actually have Spurs fans making excuses about why we shouldn't be spending 75 million on certain proven ready now players, and instead let the kids develop. Standards on the floor, all the while coughing up for the most expensive seats in the country. Embarassing.
