Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Not buying the Eze talk at all this time.

Same ITK spurs account going on about it and having his story repeated. No proper journalist has mentioned it yet.

Ali Gold did his classic "eze might be a player spurs look at" nonsense. Means nothing.

He'll either go to Woolwich or stay at Palace. I don't see him coming here

7 or 8 years ago, without a doubt he would be ours.

Mind you if we are interested, he is an idiot not to come.

It’s not though.

You’ve said yourself our recruitment is poor. Poor recruitment and being ponderous and going for opportunistic deals as opposed to the best player available are not mutually exclusive. They clearly go hand in hand.

In fact, the fact we have spent so much money and still have a team that is so woefully short in so many areas reinforces my point.
No team that is serious and has a proper plan in a transfer window could spend so much and still be in such dire straights. (Manchester United being the exception perhaps but they are an enigma no one can figure out.)
i really wish the entire cost of the deal (wages+bonuses+fees) was the number that got trumpeted and headlined rather than just the transfer fee. we've beaten this point to death but i really don't think we spend at the levels we claim to relative to our rivals. if you include everything like total wages and bonuses and agent's fees, the deals could easily be twice as big as the transfer fees alone for high earning players.

Unfortunately; you'll never know the total cost of a deal until the end of the contract.

Well sorry for introducing it, as we all know the towering quality of this transfer thread is only fit for the highest standards of posts

So is he saying out of the whole of football world wide we can’t find players to improve our squad / first 11. I am flabbergasted. Absolute joke of a statement. Is Frank saying we can’t a better forward than Richi or better LB than Davies. I hope Frank does well but he seems either naive or stupid.

Reading quotes from Frank today , I don’t think he’s that enamored with how our transfer policy is & was praising Brentford's approach . Perhaps he’s not interested in what he’s being offered

The day after we beat Woolwich, was the day to slap down £60m on fast payment terms like we did for MGW. Now coming into the week before the season starts less and less teams will accept a crown jewel being sold.

That’s what grates me most about this “wait until the end of the window before getting upset” tripe. New Manager would desperately want the main money spent at least 2weeks before season starts, to plan, condition, integrate, bond.

But, no, that’s seemingly unvalued here, clearly instead feeling waiting creates better value and wages saved, when I suspect mostly nowadays, clubs want more nearer window closure or just won’t deal at all.

Bet Frank is disgusted in the support he’s been given to this point, privately.

there was the special one, there was the chosen one, now it's time for the right one. you keep telling how great a club you are, but at the same time the solution is buying and stealing from other real clubs. stop it. back in my day Leeds, Liverpool, Woolwich and Man United didn't buy their way to success but started from a visionary coach and young committed players. now is your time. believe in the new coach, who has consciously taken over and led a championship club and their players forward, and whose best players are now sought after by many. now is the time for the right one!!

AMEN

That can mean one of a few things:

1. Last desperate bid to push them before the clamp down. (It'll be legal to use them but not to market them, I think)
2. You haven't bought Spursplay or game tickets... o_<
3. Trying to fund Damiao
4. Auto-generated from your ISP after viewing some of the scat-mongers on this forum.

I suspect that won't matter at all as I firmly believe our primary targets are whatever players are at financially distressed clubs across Europe that have enough sale value to resolve whatever financial issues those may be, we won't be in for any players that the selling club isn't willing to part with at a certain price.

Is Denmark ahead of GMT? If not, bit early to be on the hard stuff?!

Daniel are you going to reintroduced the senior discount? If not why not?

😠

So does frank
Not think eze , Simmons , Georgian lad at Lyon not improve the team ?

He's only parroting what he's been told he can parrot.

He's a fucking yes man

What are you guys on about? He's clearly saying our transfer team's data is crap, it's spitting out potential players that are not good enough.

It's probably got to do with the filters they're running against the data; i.e., wages < 100k.

Sometimes you need to read between the lines.

Very valid point.

I’d actually argue that the key is back to good ol’ fashioned scouting.

Now every top side in Europe has access to the same extensive high-level data on players, the key is to actually watch and study the players and decipher who’s a statistical phenomenon and who is an actual game changer on the pitch.

I’m a huge data person but it needs to be used to inform decisions and not make them. I’d love to see how players like Dembele and Carrick would have looked on those wagon wheels.

Our scouting has been broadly poor for a long long time now, data or otherwise.

Edit - no idea why it’s replied to Bus Conductor, fat fingers apologies.

No club just uses data though, it’s always used in conjunction with scouting.

We seem to be identifying (judging by links) some decent targets but the scouting and actual “decisions” on who/how to recruit still seem mired in flawed process.

Going from Ange to Frank for example means a radically different philosophy. Therefore the whole fucking recruitment process has to change gear.

Bottom line is though, any coach will need footballers with the best possible physical and technical qualities.

Woltemade & Eze (or next best attainable AMF/WF).

Make two deals of this level happen in the coming days. Plus a good LB to cover/fight for starts (that IMO could wait for struggling clubs at windows end, given Spence).
