It's just hubris. To everyone else the Eze deal was about getting an important player. It appears, yet again, that to Levy it was about how he views his negotiating skills and whether he can be seen as having beaten the other club at the deal. There was a release clause and Spurs could have had their target long before now and already had him integrated into the squad. Save $8M somewhere else, on one or multiple deals, but get the job done. The worst of it is, and I said it here, I believed from the beginning the club would fail to be make the deal. Unbelievable, yet expected.
