They had agreed a basic outline of a deal just incase they managed to sell a couple of their attackers (which they haven't so far) but it looked like they weren't going to be coming back for him and we were more or less in the clear but Levy penny pinched and by the time he had actually agreed a fee with them Havertz got injured and they moved to seal a deal NOT on the terms they originally agreed to but paying quite a bit more.

I don't see a world in which Akliouche is not a total flop.

The question is how bad does he flop. Will it be a Lo Celso flop or a Bryan Gill flop?
I'm obv not an expert but I saw a couple vids of him and I just don't get it.

He looks alright. But I have no idea why there's so much hype. But again, could just be me being ignorant.

I'm not saying Ange was the answer, but he was another let down by the board in terms of not having a squad with enough depth to handle multiple competitions. Ange wasn't perfect, and his tactics were naive, I agree.
He wasn't let down, because he was absolutely wretched and even with better/more players, he wouldn't have been able to put together a decent side.

This man was let down:

This dunce?

He won the bloody lottery when he got the job, never should have been employed, and should have been sacked numerous times over before finally getting the boot.

I agree and that’s why the club tried a risky approach for Eze and it’s backfired. Because there is little else available. It’s fucked for us fans. MGW wasn’t even the clubs fault either. Let’s be real here. This window has been a disaster for many reasons. The club has clearly tried to bring in two top quality English players and been thwarted.

As it is we are miles behind Woolwich in quality now and the gap keeps getting wider. They keep adding quality and we don’t. Same with the other teams. All we can hope is the club somehow find a way to sign two top attacking players this window or quite simply we are all fucked and so is Frank. No way we get higher than mid table with our current attacking options.
The club are to blame themselves.

I don't believe it's real but dropping 80 mill on Savinho. When you could have just upped the bid for MGW from the outset.

Our issue is that our planning is nonsensical and opportunistic. I don't believe we had any intention of going for MGW, it was only because we got wind of the release clause through backdoor ways that we bid.

Eze was never really an option, we know Woolwich wanted him from before the window started.

Savinho isn't an option really either because City want to keep him and we know that they probably up the asking price to place that we won't ever bid.

Hincapie for 60M, leverkusen weren't interested in selling him, especially after selling wirtz and frimpong to Liverpool. It'll only weaken them more.

If you look deeper at the optics we go for players that we know are just out of reach but make out that we're making an effort.

Dibling was likely someone we had identified. This transfer fits with our modus operandi, buy young, hopefully increase their value, try to sell for profit. We've gone back to the Jol/Arnesen model.
