Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This quote in there hit the nail on the head.

“Spurs' mentality is like being a multi-millionaire and driving 25 minutes out of town because the petrol is 5p cheaper. By the time you get home you haven't saved anything, wasted a bunch of time, and everyone else is confused by what you're doing and laughing at you.”
I dunno. I mean in your story the protagonist still comes back with a full tank of petrol

It would be awful... He can't run.

He could never run to be fair 😂 He can pass and if we have Kudus/Savinho (I know, not happening) he just needs to be able to pass it in behind. Not claiming he is a savior, far from it. But considering the chairman can't figure out how to sign players in their prime, maybe he could at least get us a serviceable backup that also brings a bit of experience.

Johan Lange and his team of data analysts have identified Rodrygo as a good player.
Lange said "we can identify talent before others because we have the data and I am also a highly skilled negotiator". This is why our data led approach allows us to stay ahead of our competitors.

Thomas Frank said Lange was doing a top job, top.

“According to my calculations, Rodrygo is very good.”

lol look it’s bad. But he’s super cheap, legitimately more productive than basically all of our targets, CL proven, and will actually step up and take responsibility in big matches - you can’t always trust 19 year olds to do that.

I really don’t think Paz or Akliouche are actually that good right now. Potential sure but their physical level is nowhere near Prem quality today
If he played well every game, sure. But 7/10 games, you may as well not have him on the pitch at all. It'll also break the press. He's a luxury player that's a dying breed for a reason. I don't think he improves us one little bit unfortunately.
I mean, you're right, it'll be cheap and that's the sort of deal we always make. But it's a transfer for transfer sake.

There was an old country song here in the US with the title, "Let's Do Something, Even If It's Wrong". That's where we're at. There is going to be momentum toward getting someone, anyone, as if that will absolve Spurs management of the Eze fiasco. Making signings to make signings is how you end up with an Ndombele. If Spurs can make one or two quality signings that Frank wants, that may be the best we can hope for. There likely aren't any impactful signings on the way. The idea we can pivot and get Savinho is probably wishful thinking.

We need to get Savinho.

You might not like who's saying it, but it's the truth.

Nothing those with eyes to see or brains to store memories or those unburdened with having to justify every move this board makes in order to prove their top fan credentials don't know, as you say the truth, spoken by rivals.

If we behaved like a top 10 in the world revenue generating club then this would have been a foregone conclusion regardless of the Maddison injury.

But no, we behave like paupers and there's 5th columnists defending it. Vultures who don't care how low this club sinks as long as they're seen to be loyal and compliant in front of other anonymous people on the internet.

But fear not, the likes of Phomesy Phomesy will be here with his little green emojis to shut down any dissent, little scavenger that he/she is.

I get your point and there have certainly been examples in our past, but Ndombele really wasn’t a panic buy or making a signing for a signing. He was a prized get and considered a game changer for us at that point.

Why have we employed (one as a "consultant") Lange and Paratici?

Between them they have landed (luckily) Kudus because of the Pikey's financial difficulties, and Palhinha a player who can't buy a game for his club.

Now reading that a City board member or Director is a "deal blocker" in the deal for Silvano?

Move the fuck on, we have less than a two week Butlins holiday in order to bring players in.

Levy may be a major problem but where are the alternatives from our director of football?

With likely 120 mil to spend we should be able to land one or two players to improve the squad.

If we don't then the damage Levy has caused is terminal for the club, as well for him.

So was Kane and he doesn't support them.
Or maybe it's because we do not have a decent scouting system that CLEARLY identifies the ones we want at the opening of the window.
Strange how United and Liverpool got their main targets signed up quickly.
Every time we try to sign someone who is sought after by others, we dither . Eze should have been signed weeks ago.
It is obvious that we will now be scraping around the championship so expect Dibling, Hackney and the lad from Leicester.
Of course there will be rumours about Rodrygo and Simons because we want to win the Champions League. Hahahaha!!
