Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Everyone please for the love of God avoid reading too much into Fabrizio Romano's waffle tweets.

You will see a lot of;

"They call to be informed of his situation

"They continue to insist on"

"There are internal discussions"

"Very difficult move"

"Tottenham remain interested in"

"Tottenham are still in for..... situation is still not closed"

While he's obviously reliable all his posts are highly monetized and transfer season is his Christmas so word salad is on the menu.

Johan Lange and his team of data analysts have identified Rodrygo as a good player.
Lange said "we can identify talent before others because we have the data and I am also a highly skilled negotiator". This is why our data led approach allows us to stay ahead of our competitors.

Thomas Frank said Lange was doing a top job, top.
Was that before or after he ate some magic mushrooms?

Levy really has become a figure of fun to be teased and humiliated

We can’t succeed with him. His pockets aren’t deep enough. He regards anyone spending more than him as “unsustainable” as they pick up elite players and trophies.

Every £ he regards as his own money. How much lower must our wages be now than the big 5s?

Him always trying to be devious is what makes him incompetent.

His priority is never to get the player signed. His priority is to win the deal, that’s why he drags out negotiations, offers players in part exchange, haggles over bonus clauses, lowballs etc.

Very few clubs in the PL will put up with that shit anymore which is why Levy has found it almost impossible to buy quality from within this league. The other chairman despise him and have enough money to resist his stupid methods. If you want to buy a PL player, pay the money and get it done. The days of haggling are over.

Except for.....

Richarlison, Solanke, Johnson, Kudus and Bissouma obviously.

Other than the ones where that isn't the priority, which is plenty, you're 100% right

I think this next few days is the moment.

Levy either responds with conviction and swiftness or he surrounds himself with the sycophants.

I don't agree with the disgusting remarks some make, which show zero appreciation for what he has done for the club but we need to see a powerful and robust response.

If not, we become perceived whipping boys for that big 4 + 1, and increasingly some of the other clubs.

Yep. Look at the players we've bought from prem clubs over the last few years.

Richarlison, Johnson, Kudus all from clubs who had to sell urgently due to PSR. Maddison one year left on his contract and relegated, Bissouma one year left on contract, Hojbjerg one year left on his contract. Even back to Sissoko, relegated and club cash strapped and Wanyama one year left on his contract. This is the area Levy wants to operate, both financially and for the buzz/ tough negotiator persona.

Then think of others where its been tougher, Mane, Wijnaldum, Zaha, Neto, Gallagher, Guehi, Gibbs White, Eze. I can only think of Solanke over 10 or so years where there have been no club or contract issues.

Guardiola has nearly always maintained that if s player isn't happy then he csn go, so thst flies inthr face of that, even if it has a semblance of truth in it.
After this week's shenanigans, if we really wanted Savinho to happen then we'd have made it happen by now.

City's target Rodrygo has been benched and looks like being benched for the foreseeable future so Man City must know whether he's gettable or not and exactly what it will cost them.

They will know the cost to change and if they wanted to sell Savinho then they'd have let us know what price he's available at.

If we wanted him then we'd have got him by now.

And before anyone starts throwing Isak and Guehi as examples, both of these players are key to their clubs and are seen as 100 percent first teamers so it's not the same situation in the slightest.

Let's try not to go overboard with all this. It's not the worst model, but it needs to be a mixture of opportunism, super scouting and taking a punt, all underpinned by quality coaching.
